First, I'm curious who all is still watching the show... I've heard a few people say they've stopped watching since about the 1 pm hour, claiming the show "dropped in quality". I strongly disagree with that, but would like to hear the reasoning for believing such. Anyway, what's everyone's predictions for the season finale? One of the main questions seemingly got resolved last week, when Nina was revealed as the second mole... but I'm still not sold on that being the end of it. I read a quote once where the producers promised a "Sixth Sense" type ending, so something is going to come out of left field. If you watched the last episode, there's still no explanation for Mason's entry into the files, and to really throw a twist into it, we never actually see Nina's mouth move when she's supposedly on the phone with Victor Drazen. That would really be a stretch, I realize, but it's also a stretch to believe she's a mole in the first place, considering some of her actions... Also, if anyone didn't think so before, it should be a given that Jack and Palmer survive the day. The show has been extended for another year in the same real-time format, and the rumor is that next year will be based one year later with Jack working on a mission for then President Palmer. Looks like the real tension will be in CTU, when Nina confronts Teri, and ultimately Jack/CTU discovers her. Of course, it'll also be interesting to see what happens with Kim; would be a great role-reversal if she somehow was there to save her dad when Jack was on the edge. Overall, this is still the best TV show I've watched in a long time, and it's the most excited I can ever remember being for a finale. There's obviously a lot of ways they can go with this, so I'm wondering what everyone thinks...
Damn you Cat!! I still have yet to watch the last 3 episodes I have taped! Since 24 has been on, I have tried to catch every show, but I missed alot of them because I'm still not sure if it's shown on Fox or FX because both stations would skip weeks. Anyway, I'm looking forward to the finale. What channel and when will it be on?
I too am very excited about this show. I have missed very very little of this series and dont think the quality of shows dropped at all. It is like watching a movie every week. I have no idea what will happen but am very shocked with Nina being the mole. I can see how they would rationalize that but what about in the beginning when Jack took her and shot her. Why would they tell him to kill her if she was apart of the conspiracy?
I watch the show. I think its great. It's my current favorite show. Somehow I think it will be revealed that Nina is not the REAL mole. Just one more plot twist before the end.
It does seem like Nina being the second mole is too obvious, especially since they show her in the opening credits whenever Jack's voice-over says something about people inside the CTU possibly being against him. While I kept thinking that it wouldn't be a surprise if Nina turned out to be the 2nd mole, I've actually been thinking they'd surprise us and make Teri the second mole.... but that's probably too far out of left field. It sure looks like Nina is the second mole. I assumed that Mason hadn't really entered the files and that it was just someone else using his log-in somehow in an effort to throw attention away from themselves. But perhaps there is a different explanation.
Pimp: I think they still do reruns Sunday's on FX at 10 PM, but I'm not sure on that. Master: The only thing I can figure out is that the first assassination attempt was run by Gaines, and not the Drazens. The Drazens were paying Gaines for his work, but like he said, "the less he knew the better". Nina apparently has some tie to the Drazens, but they didn't tell Gaines about that. Considering her position in CTU, they probably thought it best to be safe and reveal her to no one. Here's what doesn't make sense to me. Remember back in the 4-5 PM episode, when the Nash woman (Palmer's staff, really cute) stabbed Alexis Drazen? Jack AND Nina knew well in advance that the room was bugged, and that Alexis going in there would lead to either his arrest, further information being revealed, or worse (stabbing). It would seem like she would warn the Drazens about this, but it's obvious that never happened.
By the by, whatever happened to Milo (or whatever his name was. The guy with the goatee who was doing the codebreaking earlier?) Was his shift over or something? Or too busy playing the Devil in Hyundai ads to show up for 24?
mrpaige, I had actually thought about it being Teri for a while, due to the shock value, but Drazen's assassin was clearly about to kill her at her house about four hours ago. That has to eliminate her. I agree that it's probably someone else using his log-in... the question, of course, is who and how they got that access. It just seems a little fishy how Nina could get the access of a superior that easily without some help...
Also, by the by, tvtome.com says this about the finale: "11:00 P.M.-12:00 Midnight" 5/21 SEASON FINALE From TV Guide: "Jack's nightmarish day comes to an end in the riveting season finale. The episode finds Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson Jerald) distressed about the role she's been made to play in the media ruse that was necessary to buy time for Jack. When Jack arrives at the perimeter of the Drazens' location, a war of wills ensues. However, a phone conversation gives Jack information that helps identify the second CTU traitor, enabling him to warn Nina. And as time grows short for the Drazens to make their escape, Andre and Victor disagree about whether to follow through on at least one part of their plan." With Tanya Wright, Carlos Bernard, Zeljko Ivanek, Dennis Hopper, Rey Gallegos, Xander Berkeley, Jude Ciccolella, Tico Wells, Terrell Tilford. This seems to imply that Nina is not the second traitor, at least the way I read it.
I suppose his shift ended. Remember, he was an outside contractor, and not actually someone employed by CTU. I presume his role was just to fill in some of the loose ends and decrypt some information. It sucks that they didn't develop him or other characters, though. That's one of my few complaints with this show... not enough characters. There really weren't many good candidates for the mole last episode because most of the characters weren't developed enough to make it a "shocking" relevation as you knew the show would do. As a result, it took a little bit of the suspense out for me. Some of the characters that logically could've been moles (Chappelle) weren't developed well enough to be strong candidates.
Plus, the second mole would likely need to have regular access to the CTU to actually be an effective mole. Teri doesn't appear to have that. I was just thinking along the lines of who could they use to most shock us if that person turned out to be the betrayer. Teri is the most shocking, but there really is too much evidence over the course of the series for that to be an effective turn of events. So, probably not Teri.... but it sure would've been shocking if it had been.
Great find... of course, "warning" Nina actually could consist of Jack threatening her harm if anything happened with his family, etc. I guess we'll have to wait and see.
I think 24 is one of the most compelling shows on TV, along with Alias. Of course, I only get 2 channels. What confuses me is how Gaines learned that Palmer was still alive? Who called him? I missed that part. I'm guessing Palmer's wife will have a prominent role in the season finale. I, too, missed about 3 shows somewhere in the middle. The "stabbing" episode was one of them. With "Alias", I've been able to find some of the episodes online on Gnutella, but 24 just doesn't pull up the right hits.
I'm guessing Palmer's wife will have a prominent role in the season finale. She sucks! Seriously, this has been a great show, but I'm glad it's finally coming to a close for this year. I can see why people thought it dropped in quality after noon or so -- after watching 12 hours of a movie, it gets frustrating when nothing is yet resolved. Plus, Kim being kidnapped like 3 times is kinda odd. Instead of sending them to some safe-house, why not just hold them all in the CTU, where you KNOW they would all be safe? Anyway, this is one of the best shows I've seen on TV. Can't wait for Tuesday!
Didn't they try to get Jack to kill Nina early on? Remember when he put the bulletproof vest around her as they were leaving CTU? That was such a long time ago, so I may not remember it right. Actually, I think Gaines was in charge at that time, and he may have not known that Nina was another mole working with Drazen. So, then there's... Tony - I've suspected him for a long time, but he keeps on helping, so they'd have some serious explaining to do if he's a bad guy. Nina - Right now she seems like she's the #1 suspect. Mason - I think Nina got into his files somehow. I don't think he's behind it. Terry - No way she has anything to do with it. Those are the only four who really know anything about what's going on. Man, if I was a woman I'd hate that show: 1.) Kim is just a complete moron, who keeps getting herself into trouble. 2.) Jamey was a mole who killed herself. 3.) Terry is extremely weak and frustrating, and is also pretty stupid. 4.) Nina is apparently evil. 5.) Sherry, Palmer's wife, is even more evil. 6.) Palmer's young black assistant is a complete idiot, who got herself fired. 7.) Palmer's young, white assistant almost ruined everything by stabbing Alexis Drazen. I mean, is it just me, or can the women just not do anything right on that show?
I agree. It hit a lull for a while, in my opinion. But i think it was based totally on the fact that it had to cover 24 hours. I think the well runs dry a bit in a situation like that. The whole "kim gets kidnapped thrice" thing really got on my nerves- it hurt the shows believability a little bit. Plus, I thought the couple of episodes previous to this weeks just didn't take us anywhere. About the second mole- I thought mason was TOO obvious. Maybe now that they've pretended it's nina, they can go back to him? I don't know...maybe it has to be a woman. Could it somehow be palmer's wife, or that chick that stabbed alexi? I don't know. I thought the plot to cover up palmer's living through the explosion was pretty interesting, but they went away from it quickly. How did everyone find out? Anyway, can't wait til Tuesday myself.
I must've missed the lull. Anyway, I agree about the bit about Mason being too obvious. I was sure that Mason was going to pull a gun on Jack when they were in that field near the prison. I just hope the ending isn't one like The_Fugitive TV show. I never saw it, but my Mom is still pissed off about it.
I know they hate it when this happens, but I had to bump this thread. What an amazing show. I just finished the first season and am about to start the second. Here's a question though...whatever happened to Gaines? I don't remember him being killed unless he was in that blast when Alexis appeared on the scene.
