24 Low, that might be more suited for Francis

We play 24 High...a pick n roll starting high on the wing.

Larry Brown is giving Iverson a 24 Low. Starting the pnr on the baseline. Iverson takes that straight into the middle of the lane for a step back jumper or point blank layup with little effort.

What I don't like about Francis is that his version of running 24 High often involves ignoring the pick and ISO-ing up on the wing for a physically dangerous baseline drive. Cuttino is much more consistent about using the pick and taking the dribble to the middle which is the primary purpose of a pnr.

Mabye we should consider 24 Low for Francis. He'll forget about going baseline if the pick starts on the baseline. Iverson smack in the middle of the lane is pretty impressive, and he has two PFs point blank at the board to keep the defender at bay and ... and ... and to rebound a miss. I think I like this 24 Low. It is perfect for Francis, takes advantage of his leaping ability producing a 8 foot fadeaway, and it takes advantage of his interior passing and rebounding. I don't like it for Mobley, because it would take away his drives. But Francis smack in the middle of the lane is nice. And it really looks like it would limit the physical punishment he takes from driving into the teeth of the defense coming around a high pick.

I think this play can work for Mobley just as well. I mean why wouldnt we want Mobley smack dab in the middle of htelane either. In my opinion, for Mobley to start helping this team much mroe he needs to learn how to shoot the mid range jumper---its usually take the shot or go all the way with him, and defenders know this, hence rapidly declining shooitng percentage. Regardless, it would be a good addition for all of our guards and as a modification of a play we already run shouldnt be too hard to learn.

Did DaDakota say something, or was that an echo?

I am all for any play that can get Francis into the middle of the lane and allow him to attack the defense. Also, I agree that it is imperative for the future success of this team that the guards add a more consistent dose of mid range shooting to their arsenals. Take a few dribbles, pull up off a dime and drill the mid range shot.

    Hey,

Literally just finished watching the Raptors v 76ers game from last sunday, and i agree the low pnr would very much suit Francis.

It was probably the one play that Iverson seemed to get less hit on.

Other points i got out of the game, in the second half the Raptors seemed to almost alomost be playing 1on1 defense on Iverson and then a 4 man box zone, how can that be legal.

Also Keon Clark played amazing and it just reconfirmed my thoughts that George Lynch is the perfect SF for Houston.

Doing something to reduce wear and tear on your star player isn't a bad idea. No need to "Earl Campbell" him so early in his career.

You see Mango and Smeggy: there is such thing as Game Action talk that isn't about backseat coaching or bashing.

Too bad we are talking to ourselves.

Is there an echo in here?

Good idea, Heypartner, but Francis has got to be careful to take what the defense gives him. If the 12-15 footer is there, take it. If Mo's man drops into the middle to stop Steve, he has to drop it to Mo who I hope is rolling to the basket.

Either way, I ready for this team to jump wholheartedly into some sort of structured half-court system. All the ISOs are killing me!!

Can see some more of those devestating KT SLAMS!

I think this would be a great play to include
    in the offense.

actually a few plays i think would work for francis are the following

that play where walt or bull flashes from a pick to hit a baseline J. i actually think francis is shooting pretty consistent.

if u asked me it'd be nice if the guards started down low and crossed or somethin w/ a back pic.. too many times we have the guards/ forwards floating along the 3 point line.

another play that i'd like to see for francis... and this is a little tricky.... i might have mo taylor or KT at the high post to get their defender to come off high get the ball in the high post... SA set a pick on franchises's man along the baseline... then i'd like to see francis actually just spot up and shoot the baseline J instead of taking it all the way. little baseline shots like that would help him.

also.. it'd be nice to see a couple more middle picks/ maybe put mooch in the game and have francis flash up toward the top of the key than come down right down the middle of the lane almost like reggie miller does w/ back picks for a 3.. only francis w/ his athleticism can go in for a layup dunk etc.

oneeeeeeee last thing.. HP do u know exactly what happens in the rockets in bound plays? it seems the guards kind of rotate in a circle to get open..... also have u ever scene that play that LA runs where on a missed free throw they pick for shaq to get the offensive RB? they run that play really well too.
