Which is a bigger accomplishment? Only 1 other team in the history of the nba has done what the rockets did, but we haven't been to the second round in 12 years so they both are pretty special.
Regular season vs Playoffs. Which is more important? As amazing of an accomplishment as the 22 game win streak, breaking the 11 year curse of zero 2nd round appearances is much better.
History may tell us that The Streak is more important, but I couldn't vote that way. Continuing in the playoffs is much more important, IMO. Regardless of what happens, it gives us something to build on and does a world of good for the confidence of the team, and the confidence of management in Coach Adelman.
Think about this for a moment: We've won two championships already but only with the the legendary Dream, how many 22 win streak does Dream have?
lol @ the results of the poll so far. let's say the rockets lose in the 2nd round to the lakers (which is very likely), are there any of you guys who now have voted in favor of the 2nd round who would change their votes then? if not the media has really got you with this total stupid talk about first round losses in the last couple of years. what is advancing to the 2nd round really worth if your ultimate goal is to win a championship and that is the closest you got to it? if the rockets lose in the 2nd round the series vs the blazers will be forgotten in a couple of years. the 22 game win streak is probably for forever. also, fans of other playoff teams will laugh at us for us thinking advancing to the 2nd round was any kind of success.
Seriously... 22 games in a row... Only one team in the history of basketball has ever done better. 8 teams make it to the second round every friggin year! This poll is absolutely ridiculous. The only thing worse than this poll is the results. I understand the excitement of the 2nd round but seriously.
we're going to make many more 2nd rounds my friends. unless it's a championship, the only thing that will be in the history books is our 22 game winning streak.
The perfect comparison would be the New England Patriots winning streak. No one cares what they had accomplished since they didn't win the whole thing. So neither is really anything special. Championship OnRy!
it's unfortunate the team couldn't show what potential it had with the 22 game winning streak with so many injuries, to 4 starters, one season ending.
22 win streak and Novak. they are in the history and will be remembered forever. To call 2nd round any kind of accomplishment, it is a little bit strechy.
It isn't just about making the 2nd round. It's finally breaking through after 12 years. That accomplishment will be the stepping stone for this team ... the experience of finding out what it takes to win a series is unmeasurable for everyone on the roster who had not experienced it. The 22 win streak can't do that. Like Chuck Hayes said, people just don't know how hard it is to win 4 games against the same team. Plus I bet if you asked the players last year if they would all give up the 22 win streak to experience getting past the first round after so many years they would do it in a heart beat. Both accomplishments are very special but my vote goes for the 2nd round and all it's implications.
I choose 22 game winning streak because it is something that is very hard to do. Although getting to 2nd round is big accomplishment for us given what has happened to us in the last decade, it will not remembered by anyone if we don't win the championship. If it was championship instead of 2nd round then my choice would be different.
a 22 game winning streak is a team effort, also the Rox didn't get the longest streak in history, 2nd place is worthless
