Today is the 12 anniversary of the assassination of Martin Luther King. Just out of curiosity what do you guys feel about Dr King? Me personally I feel that he is truly appreciated but only because of his assassination and not for the reasons he should. After handling the issues in the south during the early 60’s he had shifted his new focus on the issues of poverty in the US. King realize the social injustice of the poor working class in the northern states during the late 60’s and planned protest in the region during that period. He had also been criticized for his protest against the Vietnam War. It tends to make me wonder how King would have been treaded by the media. I feel he may have been ostracized by the media through time. I do think he would have fought for more for an even playing field when it comes to education and pay. I do believe we would have a different set of issues now if it wasn’t for the assassination. America would have been better off if King had lived longer.
Thread title says 21st anniversary, original post says 12th anniversary... I guess maybe the OP doesn't "appreciate" him as much as he should.
