People go to sports bars anymore? Which ones? While not necessarily a "sports bar" I went to Brewingz during the NBA playoffs and it was DEAD!!! Like only 5 people in the place period Everyone watching at home? Is this another thing that died during covid? Rocket River
We occasionally go to the local hamburger joint (R&R Crafthouse) in Cypress for burgers once every 3-4 weeks, but not for sports. We typically pause our Fubo during the baseball offseason (not this past season), and I'd catch a basketball game there about once every week or 2. Pretty empty except for football games, baseball playoffs.
I typically don't anymore, its easier to watch at home and TBH, if I have even one drink I wont drive.................last time I went I used Uber, which was odd because my local watering hole is about a mile away.
I grab BWW with my fam every month or so, but it’s always around dinner time. No booze, just wings. We talk but also watch whatever is on their TVs then leave when the meal is done. I don’t see it as a sports bar anymore.
I assume you are talking about BWW- it’s probably regional. In the Clear Lake area it still gets full when there’s a game.
I guess to me it depends on why I'm going. If I think I need to get out to see a game, that's the place I go as I know I can get a table with a good view of a TV with the game.
They don't seem like they're as much of a thing as they used to be, you're right. But they pick up for important games like the playoffs. We went to a local sports bar on Saturday to watch Kingwood win the state championship in baseball on Saturday and it felt like sports bars used to feel back in their heyday. Pretty loud and rowdy. Fun sense of community.
I think it maybe sectional I don't think we getting that for professional sports anymore (this is anecdotal at best) It was so dead in the brewings I thought they were closed before going in Maybe the next playoff game I will check some other spots I have not even thought about Dave and Busters for 5 yrs and I think I got a 10$ gift card somewhere Rocket River
Outside of Sat/Sun during football season and 3ish weeks in March there's no need for 17 televisions to be on at all times. Also, people expect decent or better food, it may just be burgers and pizza and wings, but it needs to be good to get people coming in when there's not a game. Sports bars are fun as hell if there's a good crowd.
I like going to divey sports bars to meet up with friends over some beers, not sports. I don't go to any sports bar to watch playoff games. I lock myself in a room or in the living room and don't want to be bothered by anyone. Leave me to my own self lunacy with the ebbs and flows of the game.
