Since it's going to start up in a few weeks, it'll be easier to keep all the convo in this thread....
@Aruba77 I’m not making it this summer but it should be fun . I’ll attend some preseason games instead I’ll miss the randomness of seeing all the players at the casino or clubs Especially if you want to see the rockets , go to the golden nugget
I'm excited to see what the youngsters have to show in summer league. It's also the only NBA like basketball left until late October, so better get that fix in while we can.
Hope they would consider upgrading Summer League into some kind of contest with real money and higher stakes. Invite Real Madrid, Joventud, Barca, Besiktas, Efes, Pana.....
That would be interesting. I do think other league's best professional teams, that have been playing together for years, would probably wipe the floor with NBA draftees and guys hoping to make a roster.
The Summer League is basically just a few scrimmage games to get an extended look at some of the young guys and other NBA hopefuls. It's a chance to start getting a look at NBA style plays, offenses, start getting exposes to the speed, the 24 second shot clock, maybe even trial a guy in a different role. It's not intended to be some intense high stakes game. I actually don't think it would be of value to spend that time going up against teams who play a different style that you may never see again. The time for that is preseason when you're trying to ramp up to regular season game speed and competitiveness.
Excited to see chet.. this dude was impressive year one before he got hurt.. oh boy. OKC might be a problem..
The Heat draftee Joaquez played pg and Lakers Hood Schifino played PF for their SL debut. Kinda crazy how versatile these players are and that's why short PGs are falling out of style.
