Granted, 2021 has a decent chance of becoming ONE of the greatest of all time. But, I thought this year's version particularly weak on it's own...with a large disparity between the two.
I agree, 2021 could be one of the great classes. Leading up to the draft this year it seemed to be universal consensus that the 2022 draft wasnt amazing overall and was materially weaker than 2021 and 2023. But then on draft day ESPN starts spamming over and over what an amazing, exceptionally deep draft 2022 is/was. I guess that was just a producer note to hype excitement for the coverage? I heard the opposite all year.
Yeah, I don't know if this was such a "bad" or "weak" class. The team we were working with in the 20s was able to draft their #1 guy in that range. I think us being able to draft TyTy at 29 indicates there was a little more depth than folks thought. I see 2022 as much more of a crapshoot, with many more busts. The depth of 2021 was almost unparalleled.
We should probably see what the rookies do before making that judgement. 2021 was good but I'm not sure it's one of the best of all time.
If they played 4 on 3, I'd take the four (Garuba, Garuba's teammate Sengun, Sengun's teammate Green, and Green's childhood friend Jaygup). If it's 3 on 3 with a sub... too close to call but perhaps they'll televise it?
2021= Star draft 2022= Top tier role player draft 2023= Mid level role player draft (don't believe the hype)
Neither draft had a LeBron/Ad/Zion like clear cut #1 player. Last year At least had a somewhat consensus #1 pick, this year it seems like each of the top 3 had the same amount of hype. I think from the mid of the first round down to the second round, this years draft was at least as good as last years, maybe better. Last years first half of the first round was better. But the jury for this years top 5 draft is still out.
