Man. Glad we didn't overpay for anyone but it's still a buzzkill. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Astros?src=hash">#Astros</a> no deal at buzzer, other than Feldman.</p>— Jon Morosi (@jonmorosi) <a href="https://twitter.com/jonmorosi/status/760204640147255296">August 1, 2016</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Don't know much about the bullpen arm they got but just the fact that he is included should have netted at least a 3rd low floor prospect or a 3rd and a 4th lottery ticket prospects. It seems those 2 prospects for Lucroy is reasonable but to add a controlled setup/closer guy and not get more? Doesn't make sense.
I may have as well. The Astros would have gotten an elite catcher for the next year and a half. I would not have traded the players the Rangers did for Beltran. Moore to the Giants as well.
You sound like my 7-yr old when I don't give him a popsicle. It's not that bad of a thing that we mostly stood pat.
We can sit here and say that it's good the Astros didn't overpay for anyone, but the Rangers got a lot better without losing anything worth a damn.
Good trade by Astros. Let's see what the talent development has to offer. I like Hoyt getting the nod as the long reliever. He's been awesome in the minors.
Huh? The Rangers lost 3 of their top 6-7 prospects today. I am surprised the Astros didn't do anything though. I wouldn't want to face the Rangers line up with Beltran and Lucroy added to it.
They traded away some of their top prospects, all for a shot at this year. I believe they lost something like their #2, #3, and #8 prospects.
Astros appears still not able and/or willing to play with the big boys. Today's trade deadline is showing that. Trying to build mainly through prospects is not ideal. They needed to get another vet bat and the let the division rival foe pick up two good vet bats. This is looking like a fail by the front office.
Since we didn't trade for anyone, I am excited to see us draw from within and bring up Musgrove, Gurriel, Hoyt, or Paulino, even if in limited roles.
Yea this is where I am at also I mean it's all well and fine that we have a great farm system The Rangers major league team has gotten quite a bit better today, and they are already up 6 games
What today says to me is that we put a high value on our prospects. We obviously feel our guys will turn into something. Only time will tell. After all this time of waiting, it looks like we will have to wait another year still. All I can add is that our brass better be singing a different tune next year.
Who cares about the #9 hitter...and I'll take Hamels/Darvish over our #1/#2 starters. FFS. Profar - 1B Mazara - RF Beltre - 3B Beltran - DH Lucroy - C Desmond - CF Odor - 2B Andrus - SS
In who's spot? Other than the spot we gained by getting rid of Feldman, who else on our staff will just be released? We simply don't have a spot for the arms you mention, other than one of them
