I was listening to Nick Wright on the drive home from work yesterday while he was presenting an intriguing questions. In 2016, when it comes down to it, either Favre or Terrell Owens will be left off as first ballot HOFers. Wright seems to think Owens will because of is antics off the field and being a locker room cancer; Favre's status as an iconic legend in the football world as well as his likeabity to the media and guys who vote for these things in general also come into play.

However, Wright argued that from a football perspective, it should be TO and it's not even close. His argument basically came down to this: at best you could maybe say Favre was a top 10 QB ever... At worst, you could say TO is a top 5 WR ever.

So I ask clutchfans, from a purely football, achievement standpoint, which of this guys SHOULD get in, and which do you think WILL get in?

Ask yourself this, would you rather the Texans have a top 10 QB or a top 5 WR?

Theyre both going to be first ballot guys and its not even worthy of discussion

Not only was Favre a top 10 QB all time but he was an enigmatic figure. He brought back the glory days of one of the NFLs most beloved and historic franchises, and was the face of football. The media attention he got was off the charts AND he performed on the field at a top level AND until he wanted to get his piece wet, stayed out of trouble.

T.O. was also an enigmatic figure and one of the best to ever play. He brought the media to the NFL as well for his antics.

To say that both of these guys are not first ballot worthy is a strange statement.

Why wouldn't they both get in?

The NFL has a "big hall", this isn't like baseball where even all time greats like Jeff Bagwell have to wait a while to get in sometimes due to stupid sports writers. Both Favre and TO will get in and both deserve to get in.

I disagree with Nick here, but he generally makes good points. Not sure what the hate is about.

if Cris Carter had to wait, then why should TO be first ballot?

    Because TO was better.

    2nd all-time in yards.
    3rd all-time in TDs.
    6th all-time in receptions.

The guy was an absolute monster.

What does this have to do with Hall of Fame induction?

You get into the Hall of Fame based on how you performed relative to players at your position. A top 5 WR should get in before the 10th ranked QB.

Of course, both should easily get in, but it's more impressive to be 3rd or 4th best, ever, in your position...over being top 10.

That's why guys like Gary Carter are in the MLB Hall of Fame...when there are plenty of guys with better numbers at different positions, sitting on the outside looking in.
