Well, here we are. Take a look at the standings and we are 1/2 in front of the Rangers Furthermore, we are in first place  Speaking of the Rangers, I dare say we do better in our opening game than the Rangers did (gave up 14 runs). A great start to the season so far!
Astros and Rangers with two of the most anonymous opening day starting pitchers in baseball. Pretty sure you couldn't tell Scheppers/Feldman apart if given a bunch of faces to choose from.
Wow, Eagles beat the Cowboys 14-10; so glad football is back  Tomorrow is Opening Day, hope springs eternal! I hope we take 2 of 3 against the Yanks and then win a few more against the Rangers this year!!
I've been throwing up ever since that POS Crane sold out longtime Houston Astros fans in order to kiss Selig's shiny white a**. Now, Opening Day is just another day for me although I did get a nice chuckle over today's 14-10 Rangers implosion.
We get it... you're "done" with them. Frankly, the more time that goes by, the less discrepancy there is between "NL and AL" baseball... with an inter league game every single day (except for the fact that usually, the NL team can' t hang with them). Once the NL "finally" adopts the DH for good, it will basically be the western and eastern conference analogue to the NBA, or AFC/NFC to the NFL. And yes, the Rockets were once in the eastern conference.
Damn....just looked at tickets to the game....when did MMP get so damn expensive?! Is it just because it's opening day? ....or the Yankees? ...or both? Haven't been to an opening day game since I was a kid, guess I'll have to wait till I move into town in a week, then start looking at some games to go to. Too expensive to make the drive (fuel) and those prices.... Wish it was on TV here....one bright spot, my apartments force us to have comcast....
Its both. But the game isn't a sellout (just released more tickets today), and even with for-sure sellouts, I've always been able to buy cheaper tickets near the stadium on the day of games. And frankly, nobody right now really cares about the Astros... you could even get in for free if you try hard enough.
Yeah, I'll definitely try to buy some through out the season near the stadium. There are a lot of tickets available, but for more than I was wanting to pay. Just glad to see baseball on the boobtube again, can't wait for it to be the Stros. I'll probably hit up sone less dynamic games....could really careless about seeing the Yankees.
Can't wait. Even in seasons where the Astros aren't going to be competitive, the start of a new season is always special to me. And now, I don't have to obsessively watch for CSN updates. With my move to STL, I just ordered MLB Extra Innings and got it over with.
Going to the June 6 game against the Twins in Minnesota. Trying to wrangle 'Legend's Club' tickets for the June 7 game.
I seen the prices for the game tomorrow. Good lord. 38 bucks for view deck seats. lol. I'll just wait till later in the season to go to the games when I can get the tickets cheap on stub hub. I went to opening night last season vs the Rangers and bought crawford box seats for 80 bucks.
I Bought two tickets on Stubhub against the Royals....1st row in the Crawford Boxes for 68 dollars total. Tickets are super cheap on there
Unfortunately, I have to agree with you about DH - it's only a matter of time. I really don't a rat's a** about the DH - it's just that I find AL baseball incredibly boring to watch - it's sitting around waiting for someone to hit runs. As I said before, I had been watching NL baseball since I was kid attending Colt 45's games and that was 50 years of Astros baseball that Crane pissed away for Selig's bribe money. He as big a POS as was Bud Adams as far as I'm concerned.
Agreed on "NL" baseball... but once they all go to the DH, it will change how the games are played, and how rosters are constructed (with NL teams likely spending more money on DH-only type players). All games eventually change... the NBA adopts the 3 point shot and outlaws hand-checking increasing ticky-tack fouls, the NFL changes rules to favor passing/offense, the NHL gets rid of the blue line (or was it the red line?... shows how much I watch hockey). Baseball has been the most "stable" of sports, by far, in regards to "rule changes"... but with the amount of inter-league games now being played, it really doesn't make sense to have different rules/league any more. And, after seeing the competition in the AL vs the NL, you can't say these teams are "inferior"... I think the hitters are more dangerous and have an increased ability to foul off pitches/extend counts, and as a result the pitching is required to improve and feature more swing and miss stuff. Additionally, its not just waiting around to "get runs" simply because they're not using the pitcher to sacrifice bunt every 3rd or 5th inning... they're still implementing plenty of steals, double steals, hit/runs, and the occasional bunt (which never excited me much anyways). Its less predictable baseball, that's for sure... and I don't think that's a bad thing.
