For some reason.. the people who relate to Jerry Lin... feel that a few racist comments are the most dreadful thing a person can face growing up. we get it, you're a sensitive bunch, but have some perspective. Everyone's adversity is unique, and to put it bluntly, that all pales in comparison to what the majority of the rest of the NBA has faced.

Poverty, gang wars going on outside your home, drugs being sold on your corner block, parents in jail/users, not being academic, etc. The list goes on. Plus, the racism isn't anything compared to what black players face in Europe, or a black person faces walking where he... shouldn't be. How about guys like Shane Battier being teased for not being black enough? No one cares about using their story for pity, they are too invested in SUCCESS.

let's hope jerry keeps up the good play... in the past he has never been able to string together consecutive performances. still not a better player than steve blake, ramon sessions or luke ridnour because of the 1 game on, 5 games off policy.

I can't even remember now - what the hell was Linsanity? How many big games did he have for NY?

To be fair, he's played only 6 games for LA lol. His usage rate will most likely increase as the season goes on, seeing how he's probably the 2nd best player on that team right now.

And im loling at the LOFS blaming Kobe. The man has been a Laker his entire career and has 5 rings, you clowns need to get off Lin's nuts.

So poverty and crime is the only way to experience racism in America? If you think it's all about name-calling and such for Jeremy Lin and Asian-Americans in general, then you really don't understand at all.

Glen from Walking Dead is Asian American, nobody thinks he's undependable like Lin is at point guard.

Imagine if it was Lin instead of Glen, first of all, Lin wouldn't get Maggie because Jesus wouldn't let him get busy at the Pharmacy.

Then he would give her some awkward hover hand hug.

Also who the hell would trust Lin to combat the walkers? He's got no court awareness. He didn't see Mo Williams rolling up on him, how the hell do you think he'd do with 100 walkers???

Draft pretty much determines your NBA career. Look at players like Wall, he was pretty much given his own team to start with. Given a max before he really proved himself because of all that hype. If you're undrafted, you don't get any playing time. You're pretty much a backup of a 3rd string backup.

Credit to Lin where it's due. He has made a career portraying himself as a victim of so many things and as the guy who has had the biggest struggles ever and his delusional fans fall for it.

This thread is like salty tears on salty crackers that continues to be seasoned by the salt off of sweaty testicles. Rockets are 6-1 and Parsons is fat. As much as I like Lin, he didn't do much for us. That's the sad fact of the matter. A lot of people wished he could have done better here and he didn't live up to his contract. People are upset and they are rightly so. Great players become great no matter what. So, what ever excuses that keep on piling up, it just confirms that Lin isn't a great player. He can be a good player when the circumstances are right but he'll never be great.

That's why we parted with him in our goal to be the best basketball team. He'll get his occasional youtube hits, tabloid headlines and people crying for justice. But, he won't have a Larry O'Brien trophy. Not before us. Not until he's 13th off the bench and still just a player to draw in ticket buyers. That's about it.

Oh ok, I guess nobody can complain about discrimination unless they grew up around gang wars and hard drugs....

Haven't watched any recent games but looks like he had a good game today. Atleast from the box score and his team won.

Let's say, a black guy not able to hail at cab 4 o'clock in the morning, in NYC, is that racism? Can the guy prove it was racism? Probably not, but we know something just doesn't feel right, correct?

There's a ton of subtle (yet still impactful) racism an Asian American in a predominantly black sport will inevitably face. California State Player of the Year in high school, not offered a SINGLE D1 scholarship. Can we prove it was racism? Probably not. But something just doesn't feel right, correct?

Which means he's due for a 5 turnover game soon. The only consistent thing about Lin is his inconsistency and terrible handles.

Average player will have good games, average games, and bad games. Average player will be average.

What's with the vitriol for an average player being popular anyways? Anna Kournikova was an average tennis player that was also more popular than her talent level should have reflected. She didn't have haters, did she? Oh that's right. Fat women hated her lol.

part of it stems from racism. part of it stems from just good old fashioned hating. part of it stems from justifiable annoyance. Hell I'm Chinese, a Rockets fan, and a Christian, I basically hit all 3 niche markets for Lin during his time here. guess what, I still found him infuriating to watch at times. That jump pass , the high dribbles,:mad:

    A combination of the three.

Good looking girls are always popular. Other pretty girls weren't trying to live th rough her.

Asian guys well... lol. It's deluded fan boys that cause the debate, like laker fan boys saying kobe better than mj. How sad to compare a woman in a woman's sport to a guy .. some ppl just weren't meant to get IT

I like how all the hippies come in here claiming there's hate and he's a victim of racism.

he wasn't drafted because he wasn't very good. He didn't meet the criteria for scouts and actually benefitted from the Harvard bias of high basketball iq, which we never saw.

The other side is just telling you guys to accept the facts, not what your twisted emotions tell you. Take accountability for your play or success in life and quit blaming stereotypes. People have been through worse and never spoken of it. That's not hate, it's called wisdom.
