Last year, we had a baby so we didn't really have time to watch movies then we got suckered in binge watching TV shows as well once things settled down. I'd like to catch up on movies from 2013 until now that are out on the DVDs or streaming. What movies should we watch?
Congrats. I am sort of in the same situation. My second daughter was born in october. So we also only watch series and do not have time for movies. We did make an exception for GotG.
Boyhood Whiplash Nightcrawler 12 Years a Slave Wolf of Wall Street Dallas Buyers Club Captain Phillips This is the End Great Gatsby Nebraska Lone Survivor Before Midnight Mud Sound City The Conjuring The Grand Budapest Hotel Gone Girl Dear White People Chef
You would love Boyhood. Anyone with a child or a soul that does not love it has some issues, plus it was all filmed in Houston, Austin and San Marcus. Incredibly great movie filmed over 12 years.
ive seen all but maybe 5 of the movies longhornfan listed. i really suggest whiplash out of those. good movie
Good recommendations brehs. I shall get on the torrents. February is a good month to torrent all the movies you missed from last year because the movies that came out last December is usually available on torrent with DVD quality by mid Feb. With that said, I've stayed far away from Great Gatsby because it's one of my most favorite books out there and I'm afraid the movie will defecate on everything good about the book. Should I take a chance and give it a see?
I'm not sure what's out on DVD / google/youtube movie rentals / Netflix yet. I'm having a hard time trying to recall which years the films I've watched lately are from. I've been catching up on films on showbox.
Whiplash was fantastic, caught it in theaters 2 days ago, loved it Chef was just added to Netflix yesterday, definitely a must see, will get hungry after the movie
Gatsby is probably my favorite book off all time - I saw the movie and i was disappointed. It was not bad but there was so much glossed over and I felt some disrespect was done to certain characters in how much 'screen time' they had vs the role in the book. You will not miss much by not watching it. Had to go wrong with the other movies on LongHornFan's list I would recommend the following as well though if you want something on the action/lighter side: Guardians of the Galaxy (if you are into 'comic book movies' this was entertaining and funny) Godzilla - there was a lot of hate/love with this movie I personally really liked how the set up was Gravity Snowpiercer - I think this is on Netflix now Edge of Tomorrow/Live.Die.Repeat Captain America: The Winter Soldier A Most Wanted Man Congrats on the little one!
Go to the RedBox or on Netflix or where ever you're watching... see if something interests you... then read reviews of that movie in RottenTomatoes or IMDB or even on RedBox's site itself. Some sites have non-critic reviews, like RottenTomatoes. I trust those more than the critic reviews.
