Opening week is about 2 weeks away. Happy that Football is back, really interested to see Heisman Race this season. USC is back in contention, could be a big year for them. A lot of realignments don't take effect until next season but it'll still be fun to watch some of these teams in their last season of football in their current conferences.
As far as week 1 match ups go, the big one is obviously Alabama and Michigan. Should be good.

    Notable Matchups:

    Thursday, August 30, 2012
South Carolina @ Vanderbilt - 6 PM CST - ESPN
    Texas A&M @ Louisiana Tech - 6:30 PM CST - ESPNU
Washington St. @ BYU - 9:15 PM CST - ESPN

    Friday, August 31, 2012
Tennessee vs. North Carolina St. - 6:30 PM CST - ESPNU
Boise St. @ Michigan St. - 7 PM CST - ESPN

    Saturday, September 1, 2012
    Northwestern @ Syracuse - 11 AM CST - ESPN2
Ohio @ Penn St. - 11 AM CST - ESPN
    Miami(OH) @ Ohio St. - 11 AM CST - Big Ten Network
Bowling Green @ Florida - 2:30 PM CST - ESPN
    Miami(FL) @ Boston College - 2:30 PM CST - ABC
Southern Mississippi @ Nebraska - 2:30 PM CST - ABC
Clemson vs. Auburn - 6 PM CST - ESPN

Boise State/Michigan State, Clemson/Auburn and Michigan/Alabama should all be a lot of fun.

I'm surprised Clemson and Auburn would play a legit game so early.

    Go Tigers! ;)

Hope MSU takes care of Boise so I don't have to hear you clowns begging for them to be in the BCS title game at the end of the year.

College Football sucks. I prefer to watch Football where the quarterbacks can actually throw the ball.

If you want to watch an inferior product when there is a clearly superior product available then good for you. Me getting the **** out wont change the fact that college football just sucks...

College football is much more entertaining than professional football. Also the atmosphere is a lot more entertaining and fun.

I used to think that way but now 70% of college football is spread offense, QB walking to the sideline to ask his coach for help, defense has deteriorated. To be fair, it's trickling into the NFL, the difference is any QB can do it in college, in the NFL only the elite ones do it.

What's worse is most fans like to watch OKST or Oregon sling it around. OKST's head coach turns his back on defense when they're on the field for God's sake - what a joke. It's just a personal opinion thing but it really kills the game for me. The kicker is that defense, running, and talent still bring home the titles. Meanwhile every school in the nation is trying to hire the next Mike Leach.

Couple that in with all sorts of ESPN bias, annoying kids on college sports forums, no playoff system, and seemingly arbitrary penalties and you have a product that just isn't what it used to be.

Now.... if I had to go to a game it'd be a college game over pro any day.

They are. Conversely I don't like that they don't stop the clock now when someone runs out.

I enjoy both...I have rooting interests in both. I don't see it as an either/or proposition.

I'm looking forward to the Michigan Bama game big time. I fully expect the Wolverines to win the Big 10 and look forward to seeing how they match up against a powerhouse like Bama. Shoelaces is a senior now and should have the offense running on all cylinders. Hoke improved the defense in his first year so I am curious to see how much more he can improve it in year 2. If Hoke can get the defense closer to the offenses level, then Michigan will give Bama all they can handle and should have no problem winning the Big 10 and making another BCS Bowl game.

Clemson/Auburn in ATL should be great. Clemson's offense is incredibly explosive, and the defense should be much improved under former OU defensive coordinator Brent Venables. They're stacked with NFL talent on both sides of the ball.

Fair enough. I used to enjoy college ball whenever I was in school, but for the last 5 years or so the lack of an objective way to determine a champion has been wearing me down. The problem I have with college football is that the whole system is too damn subjective. Even the the playoff teams are going to be picked by a selection committee. That combined with the fact that 90% of the teams have no chance of winning the championship makes it arbitrary and stupid. How are teams like Boise State ever going to win anything when nobody wants to play them in a Home or away scenario. The big name schools are scared of losing a non conference game , they would rather play southern Atlantic Bum **** State and beat them 65-0. College football has become an exclusive club, and if your school does not belong in that club then its pretty pointless.

Well said. I feel very lucky this year. I get to watch Alabama play on Saturdays and the Texans play on Sundays. Dallas should be a lot of fun on labor day weekend.
