I think the Texans end up 7-9 or 8-8 so somewhere between pick #10 and #18. I think the needs are safety, defensive back, and defensive tackle. Patrick Peterson is a stud and will be a high pick but I don't think the Texans will have a chance at him. Prince Amukamara looks like a good prosepect but I saw him get tore up by Justin Blackmon but so does everybody else.
We need more long snappers. I know Jon Weeks is just a rookie but you never know when he might go down. I think drafting five long snappers would fit the bill.
The TE jokes seem a little silly, given that Daniels has proven injury prone and is likely to leave given his contract. Both Dreessen and Casey are getting major PT, and I like having Graham in the wings to phase out Dreessen, given his shaky hands of late. The most glaring need is likely at safety, but we know Kubiak/Smith won't use any resources on a safety other than 6th/7th round picks and street free agents. So who the hell knows?
I'd like to see Eugene Wilson replaced (if our CBs are going to suck, might as well get a FS that can stop us from getting burned over the top and pick off a few balls here and there) and please get somebody in there that can make Shaun Cody or Amobi Okoye unemployed.
hope they can get CB patrick peterson from LSU. Pros: Let’s make this simple; Patrick Peterson is the best cover corner in college football. Peterson utilizes his good athletic ability and high football IQ to have a major impact on the field. At 6-1 211lbs he has good size which allows him to match up with different types of receivers. He has excellent top end speed and uses that speed to lock down the opposing team’s top receiver. Last season he held Georgia’s AJ Green to 4 catches and Alabama’s Julio Jones to 3 catches, both players are in the top 5 on our 2011 Big Board. Peterson boasts great awareness that allows him to react quickly on balls in the air. That excellent awareness also comes into play in zone coverages. Cons: Peterson doesn’t have a lot of cons, but there are a few things he could improve on. He needs to continue to work on his back pedal because he sometimes crosses his feet which puts him out of position on plays. The other thing that’s a minor concern is experience. He has only started 16 games and hasn’t been tested a lot because of his superior skills. Teams will often work the opposite side of the field. So Peterson needs to have a healthy season and continue to get reps. Thoughts: There is little doubt that Peterson will be one of the top cornerbacks this season. He will continue to work against top competition in the SEC which will only enhance his NFL readiness. He is ranked #4 on our Big Board. Projected Round: Peterson will be a top 5 pick if he chooses to enter next year’s NFL Draft. He is the best cornerback prospect in the country. The fact that Joe Haden went #7 overall only solidifies my stance on Peterson, who is a lot better prospect than Haden. http://nflmocks.com/2010/05/20/2011-nfl-draft-scouting-report-patrick-peterson-lsu/
there are 7 teams with 2 wins or less, our chances of getting a top 5 pick to get Patrick Peterson is slim and none
Before today's game I was thinking mid-teens pick. I'm thinking we have a shot at top 10. CB - Prince Akanamura (sp?) Nebraska FS - Rahim Moore UCLA....he's a mid to later first round pick
Personally I'd been thrilled to land our hands on DT Marcell Dareus because we are still looking for that solid DT since what the expansion draft. Anyway I'd still be happy to land any of the following: CB - Patrick Peterson, Prince Amukamara, Aaron Williams Well Kareem Jackson and Glover Quinn just aren't going to cut it anymore we need a totally revamped secondary. WR - AJ Green, Julio Jones, Jonathan Baldwin Just imagine what it would be like to have Green lineup on the other side of the field to Dre. Best one-two receiver punch in the league. DE - Allen Bailey, Robert Quinn, Adrian Clayborn, Cameron Heyward A lot of excellent DEs in this draft but Bailey and Clayborn are the ones I would target. Still a long way to go before the draft but there a number of intriguing possibilities.
No way, that guy from Nebraska with the giant lips is the best cover corner. He has a funky name, I can't remember it.
I know we need a CB or SS but Nick Fairley looks like a stud. His stock has increased quite a bit over the year but even if we need to trade up, he would be worth it. Sign a CB or SS via FAgency and get this kid, we should be better right away.
