Pretty interesting race in the West, although I don't really see anyone stopping the Mavs from making it to the Western Conference Finals, unfortunately. Maybe if Denver can take the 3 seed, they can repeat what they did last year and take out the Mavs again. I don't like those chances though.
I find it funny how many people simultaneously talk about how tough the western conference is and how easy the first round opponents are for the higher seeded western teams.
^Yeah but isn't his statement reasonable? If Brandon Roy is not playing, Nuggets have will have a way easier time. If Roy was playing, then yeah I could see your point, it would be really competitive.
Brandon Roy controls that team, much in the same way as Chris Paul. A team is easier to beat without their best player(s), usually. Take Lebron off of Cleveland's roster in the playoffs and see how well the Cavs do. Roy is not on Leborn's level, but his a top 10 in the league.
How is his statement funny? Anytime the best player of your team goes down your chances of beating your opponent goes down.
He said the Nuggets will get an easy pass again. Last year they didn't play an injury depleted team in the first round, so if they got an easy pass, it's because the lower seeded western playoff teams aren't really that good. I mostly made my statement because he reminded me of all the guys complaining about how easy the road to the Finals was the last two years for the Lakers (except for the Rockets series last year). If the road to the finals was so easy, then people should stop talking about how competitive the western conference is.
Obvious? In a perfect world, everyone would be healthy and playing. Sadly, that won't ever happen in the NBA.
Last year, the Nuggets got an easy pass in the second round because of that HORRENDOUS call against the Mavericks. It was an obvious foul that was committed before Carmelo's shot, and the NBA even admitted it. That one call changed the whole series with the Nuggets controlling it. The Mavs were going to win that game, and the refs blew it. In a playoff series, a horrible call *can* give a team an easy pass. Recall Michael Finley out of bounds, Karl Malone's bear hug on Barkley, etc..
The celtics lost to the bulls tonight. It means: EASTERN CONFERENCE 1. CLEVELAND CAVALIERS 2. ORLANDO MAGIC 3. ATLANTA HAWKS 4. BOSTON CELTICS 5. Milwaukee or Miami 6. Miami or Milwaukee 7. CHARLOTTE BOBCATS 8. Chicago or Toronto Miami will be seeded: • #5 if Heat wins OR Bucks lose • #6 if Heat loses and Bucks win Milwaukee will be seeded: • #5 if Bucks win and Heat loses • #6 if Bucks lose OR Heat wins Chicago will be seeded: • #8 if Bulls win OR Raptors lose. Toronto will be seeded: • #8 if Raptors win and Bulls lose.
I want the Heat to face the Celtics and Bucks face the Hawk. The Heat-Celtics series would be interesting because of the calls that will favor Wade, but I think homecourt would ulimately prevail. The Bucks-Hawks series would be entertaining as well. Wouldn't you agree?
this is how it will go down west 1.lakers 2.mavs 3.jazz 4.suns 5.nuggets 6.blazers 7.spurs 8.thunder east 1.cavs 2.magic 3.hawks 4.celtics 5.heat 6.bucks 7.bobcats 8.bulls
Damn.. so if the Mavs beat the Spurs tomorrow.. they play each other in the playoffs... if not.. it could be different. I'd like the Spurs to get revenge on last years Mavs...
I hope you're right. I'd love Blazers vs. Jazz. I think Portland can beat the Suns, Nugs and Jazz. It would be the most fun cheering Portland against the Jazz though. Go Blazers!
i would love to see blazers beat the jazz but realistically it wont happen the jazz swept the blazers 4-0 in the regular season and came back from a 25 point deficit in portland to beat the blazers with roy playing. roy is injured severely the blazers are toast jazz in 5
I am hoping the Jazz do not get homecourt...I just don't see the Blazers beating them if Roy's injuries continue...
