ok so everyone heard morey is talking about signing someone significant over offseason, and he just stated we are most probabbly going to resign artest or is atleast hinting at the idea. What moves should we make and who is worth it or should we wait for 2010.

Hmm, in 2009 perhaps Matt Barnes or Kyle Korver? I don`t really see us signing a big FA in 2009... In 2010 I´d be really happy if we`d get Joe Johnson.

look at our strength and weakness by position. pg is set at least for next year; at the 2 position we can choose to resign ron but imo he ain't the optimal fit; 3 we have battier but still need another scorer; 4 is set; 5 ideally needs a back-up.

so off of that list, for 2009 i think our targets are: ben gordon (2), chris andersen (5), linas kleiza (3), rasheed wallace (5), marquis daniels (2); rasho nesterovic (5); fred jones (2); lamar odom (obvious), al harrington (3, assume he opts out); joe smith (5); matt barnes (2 or 3); anthony parker (2).

as for the 2010 sweepstakes, the most interesting and suitable candidate for us should be joe johnson, who should make our 2 position set. every other big name is either too unrealistic or irrelevant to our needs. but that's too far out to think about right now.

I think any upgrade is most likely coming from a trade.

to me if the rockets want to run alittle more especially there bench and they dont sign ron artest back i might look at a small forward like rodney carney i think he would be perfect back up small foward , i have always liked him as a young player especially on the break. and then maybe buy a draft pick and draft a big who can play both power forward and center a guy who knock down a 12-16th jump shot in mold of a brad miller type .

Shawn Marion, Jamaal Crawford, Turkoglu, Lamar Odom, Ben Gordon, Trevor Ariza, Morris Almond (cheap), Barnes (cheap) are all possible fits that are unrestricted.

Villanueve is the first restricted target in a possible sign and trade involving McGrady and other pieces from Milwaukee.

Don't look at current star players, look toward the future.

The Rockets would be smart to focus on Yao and Chris Bosh. These two could run the paint very well. I think Bosh would like houston, plus he would be a fit for the team

No one under the age of 26. Morey's a buy-low guy, unless that guy happens to be so young and talented that he thinks he can win a championship with that guy at the core.

The best we could get is a tier two player. Especially if keep Yao and Artest.

    (Ben Gordan, Shawn Marion, etc.)

I think Shawn Marion will be our target. Highly versatile, athletic, up-tempo guy who plays off the ball and plays defense.

Yep ... that's who the Rockets want.

Anthony Parker would be a great fit and comes cheap too. He doesn't need too many touches, makes his open shots, plays passable defense, and doesn't bring drama. Cool-headed player who'll give us 20 minutes off the bench.
