NEW ORLEANS, Nov. 14, 2007 – The official 2008 NBA All-Star ballot will be unveiled on Wednesday, November 14 during a special tip-off event in New Orleans, the Official Host City of NBA All-Star 2008. NBA All-Star Balloting presented by T-Mobile will officially begin on Thursday, November 15. The 2008 NBA All-Star Game, which will air live on TNT and ESPN Radio in the U.S., and in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, will be held at New Orleans Arena on Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008. The 2008 NBA All-Star Balloting program, which also includes partners 2K Sports and GameStop, allows fans around the world to vote daily for their favorite players as starters for the All-Star Game in a variety of ways, including: at each NBA arena; in 20 languages on NBA.com; at more than 1,500 T-Mobile-owned retail locations with custom T-Mobile All-Star ballots and ballot boxes; and through mobile phones at t-zones on T-Mobile phones or wap.nba.com for any wireless carrier. For the first time, an All-Star Balloting widget will be available on NBA.com. Fans can "grab" the widget and place it on their blogs, social network pages, or personal websites allowing others to vote directly from the widget. Select NBA arenas will also carry a Spanish-language version of the ballot. Voting will continue through Jan. 13, for paper balloting and Jan. 20, for NBA.com balloting. One hundred twenty players – 60 each from the Eastern and Western conferences – are listed on the NBA All-Star ballot, with 24 guards, 24 forwards and 12 centers from each conference comprising the list. Voters select two guards, two forwards and one center from each conference. The 120 players on the ballot were selected by a panel of media experts who regularly cover the NBA. This year’s panel included Ric Bucher (ESPN the Magazine), Rick Bonnell (Charlotte Observer), David DuPree (USA Today), Ernie Johnson (TNT), Jack McCallum (Sports Illustrated), Mike Monroe (San Antonio Express News) and Sam Smith (Chicago Tribune). As the presenting partner of the 2008 NBA All-Star Balloting program, and in support of the NBA’s season-long effort to help the on-going rebuilding of New Orleans, T-Mobile will donate $1 for every ballot cast in T-Mobile-owned retail locations or on t-zones to the New Orleans Recovery School District. The week leading up to the 57th NBA All-Star Game will feature a full slate of community-enhancing activities and fan festivals, such as NBA All-Star Jam Session presented by adidas and the T-Mobile Rookie Challenge & Youth Jam on Friday, Feb. 14. In conjunction with All-Star Balloting, 2K Sports will give fans the chance to experience New Orleans and the best of basketball by entering the Official Balloting NBA 2K8 All-Star Sweepstakes for a chance to win a trip to NBA All-Star 2008 and to have their likeness as a digitized player incorporated in next year’s game, NBA 2K9. As part of the grand prize, GameStop, the video game retailer, will offer a shopping spree. GameStop will also promote balloting throughout its 4,800 locations by utilizing in-store point-of-purchase materials. In addition, T-Mobile will promote its “Vote for Your Faves” Sweepstakes by offering fans a chance to bring their ‘Fave Five’ friends to the 2008 NBA All-Star Game. Other prizes for this sweepstakes include Dwyane Wade All-Star prize packs that feature a signed Dwyane Wade jersey, NBA All-Star cap, and special-edition NBA All-Star basketball. Fans can enter the sweepstakes each time they cast a ballot in a T-Mobile retail location or on their T-Mobile phone via t-zones. To build on the excitement of All-Star Balloting, T-Mobile will also host marquee retail events with player appearances, games, and giveaways in major markets across the country. Cmon China! Lets make this year's Western all stars starting lineup a Rockets lineup! ...without our pg. OH and btw.. um.. what the hell is Mr. Szczerbiak doing there..? Nick Collison? Nene? Are they trying to be funny? I thought this was a popularity contest..
Time for me and my billions of china men to vote Sun Yue, Yi Jian Lian, Yao Ming, and Wang Zhi Zhi into all stars. If they are not all all stars, china = fail.
I guess they're not even going to bother with the vote for WC Center this year. How the heck did Battier and Scola get on the ballot? They both suck this season...
wheres the western conference centers? must know Yao got that on lock, but yeah it would be funny if a whole team were starting on a all star team
This might be a stupid question, but doesn't Duncan log most of his minutes at PF? While Amare plays like PF, he's the center position at most times. But Duncan? He's got Elson and Oberto. Why is he listed at C on the ballot?
Keep voting for Battier,Yao, and T-mac You can vote more than one day just delete the cookies when you are done and repeat GET BATTIER TO THE ALL STAR GAME
If they had a choice I bet the people in China could put the Rockets as a starting lineup for the West and the Bucks on the East. What a game that would be! Now c'mon everybody do their part!
this is slightly based off what NHL fans attempted to do with Rory Fitzpatrick for the 2006-2007 All-star game. except this year NBA fans across the internet, starting from realgm.com, are going to successfully get Shane Battier & Antoine Walker into the 2007-2008 All-star game as starters. why Battier? a) he's a great character guy, a hard worker, a true role player, what a role model should be and we can recognize him for that by voting him in as an all-star. b) he already has the china vote behind him (because he's on yao's team). received over 1 million votes in 2006-2007, and that makes it easier to get him in. c) most other positions in the nba are packed with players that receive upwards of 1.7 million votes. we should only need ~1.5 million to get battier in as a west forward. the less work we create for each other the easier it will be and the more likely it is to happen. why Walker? a) he's a funny dude. b) exemplifies the average american - lazy, overweight, and working just hard enough to collect his paycheck. c) who doesn't want to see the shimmy in the 2008 all-star game? but you thought you could only vote once per day....? Not true. The NBA online voting system only uses cookies to prevent multiple votes. cookies can be deleted from your computer quite easily, thus allowing you to vote as many times as you like, as long as you delete the right cookie after each vote. here's how to do it as quickly as possible: (takes about 20 seconds per vote, or 15 minutes per ~50 votes if you do it quickly) 1. open your browser and go to: www.nba.com/allstar2008/asb/setOpt.jsp?ver=eng (put this link in your favorites...or make it your browser home page...it'll make it infinitely faster) 2. 'add' shane battier, and antoine walker. (both western conference, walker's a guard, battier's a forward) 3. go down to the bottom, type in the code (remember, case sensitive) and click 'vote' 4. close the browser. 5. open up windows explorer (start - all programs - accessories - windows explorer) 6. navigate to the folder C:\Documents & Settings\(windows username)\Cookies 7. click 'search' at the top of windows explorer 8. search for 'nba' and delete the cookies that are found. 9. LEAVE THE WINDOWS EXPLORER SEARCH WINDOW OPEN! 10. re-open your internet explorer browser and repeat the process. but the second time around all you need to do to delete the cookies is go back to the windows explorer page and delete whatever pops up (there will be two items that do) that's it! its important to note: -this method only works for internet explorer. firefox stores its cookies in a specific .txt file, and it makes it difficult to delete each one individually, and quickly. -you don't have to fill out the whole form. you can only vote for battier, or just battier & antoine walker, or just battier & your favorite player....and your vote will still be counted. -some people have complained about not seeing the 'no thanks, take me to voting' button. you need to use the link that was given above: www.nba.com/allstar2008/asb/setOpt.jsp?ver=eng . to put things in perspective; to get Battier an extra 500,000 votes we'll need 1000 people to vote for him 23+ times per day for every day that votings open (67 days). it'll take about 4 times that many to get walker into the game. that's a lot of people voting a lot of times, and to make it happen we'll need support from you, personally...and other people on forums you visit. so feel free to copy & paste this post to other (basketball) forums you visit around the internet, and hopefully we can create something big. what would also help is putting a link to this thread in your signature in this forum, and all the forums you frequent. below are two codes you're free to use: Code: Vote Antoine Walker & Shane Battier! Code: Vote Antoine Walker & Shane Battier! don't have time to vote 10-30 times a day? that's fine. however if you could help us out by voting for Battier along with the times you vote for your other favorite players, or just vote once a day online, that'd help us a lot. every vote counts. please respond in this thread with how much you expect to contribute, and how much you're actually contributing every day/week after voting. thanks! -corona
The mere fact that you posted these instructions that NO ONE is going to follow, especially not to vote for these guys, is HILARIOUS! If Antoine is somehow voted into the starters (which will probably not happen) I will not watch the All-Star game this season. That would be horrible.
Why the heck is Tim Duncan on the ballot as a center???!! I think the NBA is trying not to let Yao be a starter cause a lot of people are racist haters and won't vote for Yao over Duncan. And Yi JianLian not in the ballot?! This is racist!
