who the hell cares. seriously, it made my blood boil that the oscars took up channel 13 when i could of been watching p*rn or sports.
Syriana has to win something, that's a good movie by this past year's standard. Other good movies? Can't remember, maybe Capote, Walk the Line, but other than that, nothing great. "Brokeback Mt" is going to win a bunch just because it's Hollywood and everyone expects it, but I did watch that movie and judging by a purely "good/bad" movie standard, I saw nothing creative or great about it and I don't think it's award-worthy just based on that. However, everyone knows that Brokeback will win big...
I don't care who wins as long as Crash wins nothing. I can't believe this movie got nominated for best picture (or anything else for that matter). This movie is filled with so many cliched characters and has no story whatsoever. Yes, racism sucks.. you don't have to repeat it over and over again.
I thought it was a decent movie with a few powerful parts. but overall its a very weak year for movies, and i would think thats how it got nominated.
Then you would feel right at home at River Oaks CC. Over there they give high-fives instead. The younger kids there give "dap.
I disagree with some of the people on this board. I thoroughly enjoyed Good Night and Good Luck, BM, and some of the other movies this year. I can guarantee you that most of the people on this board haven't seen any of the movies nominated this year and are only basing their judgments due to popular opinion from Christian/Conservative groups. I lean right politically and (believe or not) consider myself a Christian, yet I found many of this year’s movies refreshing and insightful. Does Hollywood always have to make brainless blockbuster movies for people to enjoy? I for one actually enjoyed the serious nature of many of the nominated movies. Take the Chronicles of Narnia for example. Even though the movie was not nominated for any of the major categories, it was a serious movie that dealt with serious issues and complex themes. Many of the studios was so apprehensive about producing such a 'serious and complex movie' that it took many years before the movie was produced. Considering the times we live in and the idiot/false conservative we have for President, the serious nature of this years movie only mirrors the times we live in. Yes, Hollywood is shallow and annoyingly liberal, but I give credit where it is due. I'm disappointed in the American public for not supporting these smart, serious movies that actually make you think rather than the endless junk of c**p Hollywood studios seem to be coming out with these days.
Dude, this is not gonna fly in this forum. Who would of thought Three 6 Mafia would get an Oscar. LOL. I love it.
I have no problem with the point that Crash tries to make. But come on, there's a ton of movies out there that deal with race and prejudice so much better than this movie (Monster's Ball, Glory and Mississippi Burning come to mind). All this movie does is serve up a bunch of contrived situations with a bunch of over the top dialogue.
