    After Election : 220 GOP, 214 Dem, 1 Independent

    Senate:

    Current: 55 GOP, 44 Dem, 1 Independent
After Election: 52 GOP, 47 Dem, 1 Independent

That seems about right, although the House might be a little closer than you're projecting. The Republicans are almost a lock to retain control on the Senate, and the House is also favored to remain under GOP control, although it could be close.

Anything could happen between now and then, but if those predictions came true, even though they are losses, the GOP would soak themselves in happy pee. It remains probable that the GOP holds both houses, but barely. And your scenario is the rosiest one imaginable for them. We all know that America's had it with GOP rule, that they're extremely unhappy with the direction the country's going in, that they oppose Bush on every single issue - mostly in large numbers, but there are very few contested seats and the GOP incumbents that hold theirs are doing a great job of distancing themselves from Bush. We can all agree the GOP has failed at running the government and that they will lose seats as a result - we just don't know how many. You're predicting on the low side. We'll see what happens.

And the Democrats failed before the Republicans and so forth and so on. We are a nation of critics and the pendulum swings suit our nature. That is all!

I think while alot of folx are upset with the Republicans
    alot
are also of the mind that the Democrats are not much better
The democrats have not shown alot of strength . . . backbone

Democrats IMO come off more as THE OTHER PARTY rather than the OPPOSITION PARTY

If the Dems weren't so pathetic they would clean up in November. Until they settle on a presidential nominee, the Dems will be weak as water. If they don't coalesce and follow the leadership of the nominee, or if the nominee is a sorry candidate like Kerry, they will stay weak. It's up to them. The reigns are their's for the taking because the GOP has failed so miserably.

That seems like a good prediction. I'm not about to make a prediction which party controls Congress after the elections but I think its going to be very close.

That sounds about right. The House race will be close, with the GOP losing a few seats, but still remaining in control. The Democratic party is a joke with no direction or leadership.

Great analysis. I am cautiously optimistic the Dems will take the House. However, It might be better to have the GOP keep making fools of themselves and then to take both Houses and the Presidency in 2008.

jack which senate seats do you think will switch?

we'll get penn for sure. and ford will get tennessee. but im pretty concerned about bob nelson.

also with this lieberman thing...if he does run as an independent i think he'll get it. so im kinda weirdly hoping he'll win in the primary.

The Democratic Party will capture the House, and maybe the Senate. The House for sure. The only reason the margin will be close is the rape of the electoral process in states like Texas.

Care to put your money where your mouth is? I'll bet you $1,000 that the House will remain under GOP control. Are you going to man up and accept my bet, or are you going to run?

$20 bucks for the tip jar. Will you man up, or run away, texxx?

So you've run away from my initial proposal of the $1,000 bet. I figured you'd do that. Apparently you aren't as sure about your proposal as you portrayed yourself to be. I was really looking forward to taking a large sum of money from you.

I'll do the tip jar bet.

Either that, or he's smart enough to know that if he was going to bet real money, he could get better odds at a betting site, so why waste his time with you? You have a bad habit of trying to be "manly" by offering large bets at weak odds that you can arbitrage on another site and guarantee to make money. Shows your lack of conviction in your beliefs far more than it shows anything about him.

Deckard came out and said that he was SURE the House would go to the Democrats. Maybe he knows something I don't. I gave him an opportunity to capitalize on his strong belief and it was declined. 'nuff said
