What is your favorite? I always keep Bud Light in the fridge. I seldom ever buy imported beers. When I do buy imported beers, I like Bass or Guinness. I go though probably 3 12-packs a week, but I'm not the only one drinking it. I personally only drink 2 12-packs a week. Do you only use beer for cooking? If so, what do you use for what type of food? When I tailgate, I boil my Brats (10) in Shiner Bock (40oz) with a medium sliced onion and a tablespoon of minced garlic for 10 minutes. Let it cool and the fridge for the next day, then toss it on the grill, until it gets brown. Perfect everytime. I will put a can of Bud in chili or add it to my marinade for my bbq chicken. I love beer. How bout you?
I hate budweiser and all its products. I hate all the big beer companies actually. I don't like beer like I use to, but Sam Adams, and Shiner Bock rock the house, that are imported domestic beers. But Any japanese beer is gravy for me.
Guinness is may favorite. I like Tecate and lime too. like But I drink cheap Bud Lite when I am going for quanity over quality, and not wanting to spend much money. My father brews his own beer that is pretty much superior to anything bought at the store. It's like drinking beer straight from God's tit.
Here ya go man all u need to know about the chicken http://forum.ebaumsworld.com/showthread.php?t=71304
I'm lucky enough to live across the street from a 24 hour grocery store with a very good selection, so I can pretty much no longer drink domestic macro if I have a choice. I've been favoring Weinstephener, both lager and weiss beer, and then the occasional "big bottle" from either the Rogue brewery, Belgian style ales from the Ommegang brewery (in NY), Allagash (a Maine microbrewery) and Hofbrau Lager.
I don't think you can buy beer or wine 24 hours a day though, assuming you live in Texas. Cause they don't sell beer or wine after midnight-six am i think monday through thursday. friday and saturday after 1am-sixam, and sunday until noon.
ehh, I don't live in TX, but I don't buy after midnight either, but have made some 11:30 beerruns, you can't in NY, though the mom & pop korean groceries will ususally sell it whenever.
Do you guys cook with beer? If so, what and how and with what type of beer? So far the poll is pretty even.
I usually default to Miller Lite, especially poolside or at the lake. On special occasions I'll drink Paulaner Hefeweizen or Shiner. Just around the house it's almost always Miller Lite, though.
I've recently become a fan of Blue Moon. Thats usually my choice at the bar. At home I usually just bring home whatever is chepeast which is usually Keystone
Keystone is a good cheap clean tasting beer. I had Blue Moon on a free tour at Coors last year. I think it's a wheat beer, but doesn't have the Hefe taste (banana/clove). Decent beer doesn't have to cost a bunch. As a side note, I went to a small sports bar and ordered pints of Bass on draft. I couldn't believe that they were 5.25 per beer. Next time I'll stick to BL. It was happy hour. Thank goodness I only drank 3.
I cook with beer and will usually use cheap domestic lager type beer for things like beer brats, marinating fajitas, chilli or beer cheese soup. I don't see the point in wasting a beer I enjoy the flavor of to use in cooking. I like to keep the beer flavor subtle too so a lager works better since it won't impart a strong hoppy taste. Recently I had a friend bring over some stuff called Bell's Cherry Stout that had a very unsettling salty aftertaste. I was making a beef stew the next day and wanted to add some wine to it but was all out of wine. So I figured what the heck and dumped some of the Cherry Stout in it and it worked great. it imparted a sweet but slightly sharp taste that went well with the stew. Another thing if you're looking to cook with beer is to try Guiness in gravy. That's a pub favorite.
Aside from brats I don't cook with beer all that much. Cooking with champagne though. That is always delicious. Usually when sauteeing onions for whatever I'm making. Miller Lite is the best domestic for the money, but for taste Fat Tire, Sam Adams or Blue Moon.
Did you test another to see if it was salty or ask your friend? Never had a salty beer, though. 40/60
