I know we are up agaisnt the wall, but if you e-file, but choose to sign it yourself, do you still have to mail a copy of your 1040 in on the 17th? I can't find the IRS's copy of the w-2. And I don't have a stamp on me. And I sure as hell don't feel like being on the news where the top story is the long line at the post office.
the IRS says you have to sign your tax returns. did you guys electroniclly sign with a pin number? Cause i didn't choose that option. I wanted to sign it.
why exactly would you want to go through the hassle of signing it? type in a 5-digit PIN or print out a piece of paper, sign it and fill it out, then mail it in? seems easy. anyway, doing it last night, i'm pretty sure it just said e-file and then after it's accepted print out the signing form (just one sheet), sign it, and mail it in. if you e-file there's no reason to mail in any of the forms from the tax return.
you should never have to send in a copy of your return if you efiled. the only form you'd probably send it is an authorization for them to debit money out of your bank account/CC if you owe them money.
