Here they are Notables: Six dates in Australia! I bet John Butler Trio opens for them -- they did here in the states a few years ago, and Dave really liked them Only two in Texas. Dallas gets the shaft again, which is fine as long as they add a second Houston show, but no luck this year . . . Two shows right by where I'll be up in PA!! Gorge is early this year, and still has eight shows after it
They don't deserve it! Did anyone catch the snippet in the new RS about the new album? Calling one of the songs a "supersonic funk jam" does nothing but make it even harder to wait until May. At around 11 pm, twenty DMB employees gather to listen to the 25 tracks. Matthews sips red wine, Batson rolls fat joints and everyone cheers after their favorite songs. Cocktail streches into sunday morning and Matthews joins a poker game in the garage. The album is pretty much done. "This album is about love, life, god, death and sex" says Matthews. Highlights include the supersonic funk jam Stand Up and Old Dirt Hill, a sweet reflection on childhood built around Boyd Tinsleys plucked violin. Lessard wrote the music for Hunger for The Green Light, with lyrics about oral sex added by Matthews who says, "it is the most overt ****ing song ever." American Baby opens with sounds of bombs dropping but Matthews says it is meant to be optimistic. "There's a divide in this country. That song is hoping that apple pie lemonade baseball and sunny day bbq's are not replaced by a "****'em all and let God sort it out' vibe" At the end of the article, Dave says "There are songs that I love a lot that won't make it on the album, and other songs I love less that will. It's a weird thing but we wrote alot of songs and thats a good thing to complain about" Sorry, no link. This is just in the magazine, I believe.
