Besides Jason Williams who are the other top players in college basketball right now? I'm sorry but I do not follow CB but I follow the top players because they are usually the next NBAers.
Mike Dunleavy Jr and Duhon are highly thought of, but are probably mid to late 1st rders from Duke. Rush from Missouri is great. Maurice Baker is a good scoring guard for Oklahoma State. TJ Ford, Texas, is the pure point guard, but he should stay in college atleast till 2003. Casey Jacobson, Satnford, has late 1st rd status. The cream hasn't risen yet and I'm only familiar with Big 12.
Jacobsen is a steal in the late 1st round. He has great size for a SG, can put it on the floor half decently, and is the best shooter in the nation.
kidrock, I was unimpressed with his ability to create against a good defender in Ivey at the UT game. Maybe he had a horrible game or maybe he has trouble against the tight defense that will be shown by NBA teams that aren't the rockets.
I think Jacobsen and Jason Kapono will go earlier than late first. They're very similar type prospects and a team will fall in love with their shooting and take them somewhere in the mid first round or late lottery. Total deadeye shooters who have a feel for the game most others do not. They aren't stars, but if put in the right situations they are very likely to be solid NBAers.
Joe Joe-Not coincedentally, that happened to be Casey's worst game of his 3-year career... He might have trouble against a guy like Ivey, but I don't think many people would light up Ivey. At worst, Casey will be a great spot-up shooter in the NBA. Kapono is a great shooter, but his defense is very suspect, as well as his ability to put it on the floor. I see Casey being a mid-1st round pick, and Kapono at the end of the 1st.
Jacobsen is a winner...plain and simple, the guy knows how to win and will take full responsibility the few times he loses..he has a great all around game and is very basketball savy...should not slip too far in the mid to late 1st
I don't think either are as good as recent swing players like Wally or Mike Miller or Joe Johnson or Shane Battier--most of these guys are just as good as shooters with more athleticsm. Jacobsen might fall in the last part of the lottery, he is a little more athletic than Kapano, but I don't see either as real good NBA players.
All those guys were fairly high lottery picks, so it's no surprise Jacobsen/Kapono aren't on their level. By late lottery I meant the 11-12-13th slot (I know Johnson was taken in that range, but this draft was unusually deep and even know that appears to have been a mistake). I agree Jacobsen should be taken first. He does have more athleticism. I do disagree that they won't be good players though (I don't mean all-star level, but long career solid bench/starter level). They both have an understanding of basketball that will take them beyond their physical limitations. They are pure basketball players and combined with a great shooting stroke that will give them long careers, or at least I think so...
one center to watch in Wesley Wilson a 7 foot junior at georgetown. Being G-town alumn, I watch all their games and although I can be at fault to have a bias to the G-town players, this guy has got some serious game and probably could be had late 1st early 2nd rounds if he comes out. Another player that I like is guideau at gonzaga, he would make a nice fit on the Rockets roster.
Ha ha ha. Oh yeah hem is the greatest player in the NBA, well at least according to his club in Yahoo! he is.
I'd say Williams, Rush, Prince top 3 CB players. Tayshaun didn't look very good last year, but this year, I bet he'll be a lottery pick.
Prince may be a lottery pick, but he still has one very large problem that will be evident in the NBA. He's built like a 6 year old girl. His body has not improved during his time in Kentucky and an NBA team has to wonder if it ever will. He will have rather large difficulties in the NBA because of it. If I were a GM (hey, no jokes) I don't know that I could pull the trigger on a guy with that body.
i think chris owens has a role for himeself in the nba ala funderburke, corliss williamson type player...
