2002 Summer Pro League Video Clips

Finally!

Here are the videos I took from some of the Summer Pro League games out in Long Beach with some brief descriptions. Some may be a bit dark, but most of them are pretty good quality. A couple of them are really quick, too. Unfortunately I didn't get either of the Eddie Griffin alley oop jams or the Tierre Brown buzzer beater to end the first half, but oh well... Let me know if any of the links don't work and I'll see if I have a typo in them.

SPL2002VID002 - Good Rockets passing leads to a bucket by Venson Hamilton.
SPL2002VID003 - Rockets pass it around the arc leading to a Drexleresque shot by Oscar Torres
SPL2002VID004 - Massive airball thrown up by Ahmed Ismail. So ugly, I almost dropped the camera.
SPL2002VID005 - Oscar Torres with the drive inside followed by a pass to Ahmed Ismail (?) for the short jumper.
SPL2002VID006 - Tito with the nice pass inside to Venson Hamilton (?)
SPL2002VID007 - Tito drives into the paint and... turns the ball over.
SPL2002VID008 - Tito approaches his Bermuda Triangle (the paint) and turns the ball over...
SPL2002VID009 - Tierre pops the open jumper.
SPL2002VID010 - Tierre pops another open jumper.
SPL2002VID011 - Tierre and George Williams play the 2 man game and Tierre hits another jumper.
SPL2002VID012 - Tierre to Collier down the middle for the one-handed jam. One of the only known videos to show JC elevating.
SPL2002VID013 - Tito drives inside drawing the defense, then tosses back to Collier who sticks the open jumper.
SPL2002VID014 - Ahmed to Kyle Hill for the long 2.
SPL2002VID015 - The Rockets pass the ball around the arc to an open Kyle Hill who hits the 3.
SPL2002VID016 - Hey, it's Kyle again for the jumper.
SPL2002VID017 - Tierre penetrates, collapsing the defense and leaving Kyle Hill open to hit a 3.
SPL2002VID018 - Ahmed stopped on a drive attempt instead opts for a fadeaway, steps back and nails it.
SPL2002VID020 - Ike Nwankwo tips in the errant George Williams shot.
SPL2002VID021 - Tito to Kyle to Oscar who drills a pass into the paint where Tito hits a layup.
SPL2002VID022 - Jim Boylen instructs George Williams on the sidelines.
SPL2002VID023 - Oscar Torres lying on the ground injured and in pain.
SPL2002VID024 - Torres led off the court in obvious pain with a shoulder(?) or rib(?) injury.
SPL2002VID025 - Ahmed gets swatted by Caron Butler (don't blink, it's fast!)
SPL2002VID026 - Patient offense gets Jason Collier a baby hook with the assist from George Williams.
SPL2002VID027 - Tito tries to drive, approaches his Bermuda Triangle (the paint) and gets the ball stripped.
SPL2002VID028 - Tito fakes a jumper, drives, and hits his trademark teardrop fingertip layup.
SPL2002VID029 - Tierre blows by the defense for a layup, but misses. No worries - Collier's there to jam it home.
SPL2002VID030 - Tierre rolls around the defense and inside it for an easy 2.
SPL2002VID031 - Tierre with the initial ignition to break the defense, to Tito who nearly gets stripped, but George Williams recovers and hits the shot.
SPL2002VID032 - Tito hits the layup on an assist from George Williams, but check out the initial pass Tierre makes. Nice!
SPL2002VID033 - Fife hits the open jumper after Tierre sets up Ismail who absolutely bricks a jumper.
SPL2002VID034 - Jason Collier gets his shot eaten alive by a defender. I should've kept rolling, because Jason started laughing while on the ground...
SPL2002VID035 - Collier hits the reverse layup after a series of passes. Check out Ahmed's dribbling.
SPL2002VID036 - Fred Jonzen does a Jason Collier impersonation and has his shot devoured by a defender.
SPL2002VID037 - Unfortunately the capture is a bit dark, but this is Tierre doing his spin move in the paint passing off to Eddie (?) for a long jumper
SPL2002VID038 - Tierre easily drives the paint, but gets his shot blocked. Bummer.
SPL2002VID039 - Tito collapses the defense with a drive and passes back to Collier for the jumper.
SPL2002VID040 - Eddie Griffin with a good pass to Collier in the paint for 2.
SPL2002VID041 - Doc begs for highlight material, but instead gets Jason Collier for 2 after the Eddie Griffin long range miss.
SPL2002VID042 - Damn, another Collier shot. Good pass by Tito on this one.
SPL2002VID043 - Kyle Hill feeds Tito on a break, who pops a jumper on the move.
SPL2002VID044 - A mysterious force drops Tito to the floor as he drives (another Bermuda Triangle experience in the paint!)
SPL2002VID045 - Doc tells Ike 2 foot jumpers are out of his range.
SPL2002VID046 - Kyle Hill with a long range bomb on a fast break.
SPL2002VID047 - Tito dribbles and dribbles, then drives only to get his shot blocked.
SPL2002VID048 - Here's a quickie. Eddie's on a fast break and pops a fadeaway jumper from the baseline. I don't know why, but I love this shot.
SPL2002VID049 - Rockets miss a few shots and Ike Nwankwo hits the floor hard.
SPL2002VID050 - Eddie throws a fake that sends the defender airborne, passes the ball to Ike who fumbles the ball back to Eddie who cans the miracle shot.
SPL2002VID052 - Oscar misses the 3, the ball bounces right back to him, he takes another 3 and hits.
SPL2002VID053 - Oscar gets inside and puts back the Tito Maddox missed layup.
SPL2002VID054 - Tito takes the ball inside by himself and throws up his trademark teardrop finger roll.
SPL2002VID055 - Tito drives, hits the Bermuda Triangle (the paint) and gets called for charging.
SPL2002VID056 - Fast break; Oscar to Eddie who hits a 13 foot jumper.
SPL2002VID057 - Larry Smith coaching during a timeout - this guy is serious and ALL business!
SPL2002VID058 - Tierre in a give and go misses the layup, but Fred Jonzen is there to tip it in.
SPL2002VID059 - Tito attracts the defense and passes out to Fred Jonzen for the long range bomb.
SPL2002VID061 - Tito to Ahmed at the arc. Ahmed fakes the shot and makes a great pass to Dane Fife (?) who hits a really difficult shot.
SPL2002VID062 - Ahmed does a quick fake and steps back to can the long range jumper.
SPL2002VID063 - Check out this fake pass Ahmed does, followed by a pass into the post for a foul. Sweet move.
SPL2002VID064 - Tierre does a sick dribble move and I believe draws the foul on this play. Great move to get free of the defender!
SPL2002VID065 - Tierre does his in-the-paint-spinning-dribble move. He used this several times and it more than often ended up with good results.
SPL2002VID066 - Ahmed cans the long range 3.
SPL2002VID067 - Ahmed is the man in the right position as he rebounds a miss and puts it back up for the score.
SPL2002VID068 - Tierre drives straight through the non-existent defense.
SPL2002VID069 - The guy with moves "like Tim Hardaway" (Mike James) swipes the ball from Tierre
SPL2002VID070 - Tierre gets swatted on this shot after a nice job penetrating.
SPL2002VID071 - TMo drives and nearly pulls off a monster dunk, but settles for a "drop in" for 2. RAM IT NEXT TIME TMO!
SPL2002VID072 - Ahmed drives the baseline for a wraparound jam. Nasty Beast from the Middle East!
SPL2002VID073 - Tito drives towards the Bermuda Triangle (the paint) again and gets the ball swiped.
SPL2002VID074 - Tito dribbles the ball towards the Bermuda Triangle (the paint) and loses the ball, but I think there was a foul.
SPL2002VID075 - George Williams gets his shot blocked into orbit. Ouch!
SPL2002VID076 - George Williams shows a good inside turnaround jumper.
SPL2002VID077 - Somebody hits a jumper and gets the foul. Fred Jonzen? Jason Collier?
SPL2002VID078 - Ahmed with the drive and spin for the layup off the backboard. Absolutely SWEET move!
SPL2002VID079 - Ahmed to George Williams who works for a turnaround jumper.
SPL2002VID080 - Ahmed with the fake spin with a pass out to Ike (oh no) Nwankwo for a 17 foot jumper.
SPL2002VID081 - Check out the absolutely beautiful pass by Ahmed which leads to a pass by Ike to I believe George Williams for a jumper.
SPL2002VID083 - Ahmed doesn't hit the shot, but displays yet another nice move.
SPL2002VID084 - Tierre puts on a decent dribbling exhibition eventually leading to a Nwankwo bucket.
SPL2002VID085 - Tierre tries to do too much and eventually turns the ball over.
SPL2002VID086 - Tierre with a nice job getting inside followed by a nice pass to an incoming Ike Nwankwo.
SPL2002VID087 - Not a great clip, but George Williams is on the receiving end of a fast break pass.
SPL2002VID088 - Ike tips in the Tito miss. Nice drive by Tito.
SPL2002VID089 - Ahmed lazily launches one falling away from about 20+ feet and hits. What a touch!
SPL2002VID090 - Big Ike hits the long-range bomb.
SPL2002VID091 - Tito takes this one by himself; a wide open jumper from the sidelines, nothing but net.
SPL2002VID092 - TMo with the nice pass inside to Venson Hamilton for the layup.
SPL2002VID093 - Tierre with a great drive, but impersonates Kenny Smith and misses the layup.
SPL2002VID094 - Kyle Hill (?) with a sweet drive and pass off to Hamilton for the easy 2.
SPL2002VID095 - Torres with the drive and finger roll for 2.
SPL2002VID097 - Tierre drives into the paint and passes off to Kyle Hill on the sidelines for a long bomb.
SPL2002VID098 - Dark clip, but from the form on the jumpshot, this looks to be Eddie Griffin launching a 25 foot bomb.
SPL2002VID100 - Torres drives into the paint and passes out to Ahmed Ismail for a short 10 foot jumper.
SPL2002VID101 - Tito with the nice pass inside to Hamilton who scores the bucket.
SPL2002VID102 - Tito gets into the Bermuda Triangle (the paint) and turns the ball over.
SPL2002VID105 - Eddie patrolling the paint while guarding Drew Gooden. Good sequence showing his intimidation even though he got the foul.
SPL2002VID106 - Tito enters the Bermuda Triangle (the paint) and travels.
SPL2002VID107 - Not great video quality, but, Tito to Ike in the paint for two.

 

What happens when you click? They're kinda big... 1-6 megs in size. Get the latest version of Quicktime from http://www.apple.com/quicktime. I couldn't get them to load in my browser until I upgraded to version 6 of Quicktime.

 

I didn't video tape a whole game. Those pics came from my digital camera, not a video camera. I just recorded play after play and the ones above are the ones I kept. Besides, the camera can only take 35 second clips.

 

Go to www.download.com and do a search for "video player playlist". There's a mess of 'em.

 

Thanks Clutch; anything to help you guys out and keep this site the best. I hope to do it again next year, schedule and company-willing. If nothing else, at least I learned how to use the camera about halfway through this summer league.
