As crazy as it sounds...The season is now 25% over...Crazier it would seem that a rare 2000 yard rushing season is at best bound, at worst very possible to happen. But here we are, Arian Foster now has 537 yards rushing in 4 games. I don't really see him slowing down, and all that needs to be done is an average of 121.9 yards per game...Considering his beast mode performance, very, very quite possible. I'm very excited to see this season progress!
Kubes screwed him and my team by benching him today, otherwise he could of had 300 yards in that game easy.
He would have had another 200 yard game no doubt!...He seems faster as well. p.s. I meant it being crazy that 25% of the season is over since it seems it just started..
He's been amazing but there is a long way to go and a lot of different teams to face. He also has to stay healthy. Oh, and he has to show up on time to team meetings. :grin: Having said that, he seems to really know how to run the ball in this scheme. He makes good cuts and fakes and seems to just have a feel for how to pick up a few extra yards or more when there doesn't appear to be any running room.
The offensive line is amazing. Even Derrick Ward had 80 yards on just 12 carries. I think the fact that Ward and Slaton were running so well made Kubiak keep Foster on the bench longer.
Teams will start to focus on him more and more and make Schaub beat them, amazing as it sounds. Not saying Foster won't be a beast anyway but games like week 1 and today will come harder and harder to achieve. I say he will end up with 1500 yards rushing and another 500 receiving, MVP type season for sure.
Foster is making the most of his chance in this scheme. Lets not forget to give credit to the O-line and zone blocking... also Vonte Leach. They open up some crazy big holes that a good chunk of RB's would exploit as well. That being said, Foster is the most decisive RB the Texans have ever had, and that's exactly what is desired with this scheme.
What's great about him is he is exactly the right amount of decisive too. I mean, Slaton seems to have cut down on his indecisiveness this season (perhaps in response to all the praise and success of Foster) but he has gone to the other extreme. He seems to plow straight into the O-line at full speed before the really good holes have a chance to develop. Foster is pretty fast, but he times his carries such that he gives himself the best possible opportunity to find a good running lane. It's something that I think is very underrated in the league because guys that aren't especially fast or strong can be very successful running backs if they just play into the scheme.
That's a perfection descriptor. I was trying to put into words what I was seeing with my limited football knowledge. He's decisive... when he hits a hole or makes a cut. And like Raven said, it's not just that he's decisive, he makes good decisions. He knows when to be aggressive, when to hesitate, when to make a cut, etc...
Yep. Reminds me a lot of Emmit Smith. Not particularly elusive, not the fastest RB out there, but he allows the holes to develop, and runs through them at the perfect time.
Um, how about he potentially screwed himself and the team by doing whatever it was that forced Kubes to bench him for disciplinarian reasons.
Or, he might have been hurt on his first carry if he started. We don't know what would have happened.
He has good vision. He sees the cutbacks really well whereas Slaton doesn't seem to and Foster has a good lean. He's always moving forward through contact. If he were quicker he'd be scary.
If by your team you mean your fantasy team, Foster scored 30 points for me this week. No complaining allowed. If you mean the Texans, we got the win, so I fail to see how Foster's benching screwed the team.
Which is why it'll be good when they switch to 18 games, MORE football Though with 18 games, 2000 yards won't mean nearly as much. There has been 6 2000-yard seasons all time. (OJ Simpson needing only 14 games to do it) 18 games, it takes a 111 yards/game average to get 2000 yards. 16 games @ 111 yards/game = 1776 total yards. At that pace, you add 2 more games onto the 16-game highest single season rushing totals, you'd get 14 MORE 2000-yard seasons So Foster will need to do it THIS year for it to be more meaningful
I am also impressed with how patient Foster is in setting up blocks. He reminds me of Marcus Allen. Hell of a back.
A guy with that height should not be so shifty and fast. And his vision..wow! But also, we have to give much props to that o-line, FB and TEs who have been dominating the line of scrimmage when it comes to the running game. Even against the cowboys, they had not given up a 100 yard rusher in a long time. I'm happy for all of those kids. Let's just hope Foster stays on track outside the football field. The last time I was a fan of a deep thinker, he ended up wanting to live out Brad pitt's character in Seven years in tibet. Still love ya, Ricky Williams.
Oh my GOD, Leach has just been CORKSCREWING guys into the turf all season long. He doesn't get nearly enough credit. Dude is having a Pro-Bowl year blocking. Kubes should give him some love on the goal-line more often. He deserves it.
