JVG should have played Deke and Yao at the same time for most of the game. That would have elimated most the penetration and offensive rebounds that the Mavs were getting, forcing them to shoot from outside. JVG should have realized after the first quarter that this adjustment had to be made.

the mavs would pull back and either p&r to death and just slash and get them into foul trouble. you want either ming or mutumbo guarding dirk on the perimeter?????

against the spurs, maybe it works. against the mavs, that's just crazy.

Would going to a zone have worked better?

We should have tried something, our defensive rotation's were horrible last night. Horrible. I expected JVG to make the adjustments but they never cam and by mid 3rd qtr we were just in too deep.

That's kind of tough to do when the Mavs' two biggest players on the court are Josh Howard and Dirk. It was hard enough watching a defensive possesion with one of them on the court.

Yo in NBA Live it works. Dikembe and Yao awesome shotblockers..Dampier is too which doesn't make sense...:p just kidding he'sa good player just not as good as Deke and Yao.

But whatever it's too late now. Could have should have..next season we are sweeping them.

Hahahah are you seriously comparing a video game to real life? My god is that where your basketball knowledge comes from? Even in Live it wouldnt work too well. Even though Yao is a beast in that game that i can get tripple doubles at will in every game i play with him. Not to mention he is just as quick as nowitzki and can recover by coming from the 3pt line back to the basket to swat a shot. Not very realistic. So next time you come up with a strategy, dont use a video game to prove it.

I'm not saying it would work. I'm saying we won't know if it would have worked and it's too late now......

But yes in Live it works :)
