This may be the youngest person alive to take the magical blue pill... though you can now use the past tense on the bizarre treatment to his heart problem http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2007010414,00.html Tot, 2, on 'sex pill' Viagra By LUCY LAING and EMMA MORTON January 10, 2007 TWO-year-old Ben Hayes is the youngest person in Britain to take sex drug Viagra. He was given one blue pill a day to relieve pressure on his heart which had a defect. Mum Christine, 29, said: “When I picked up the prescription at the chemist, people assumed it was for my husband Roy.” Ben — who was born with a hole in his heart — was put on the drug at age ten months. His mum had to crush up the tablets and mix them with his baby food. He has now had surgery at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital which means he can stop taking the pills. Christine, from Belfast, said: “I couldn’t believe it when the doctors told me they were going to give him the drug. “But it certainly did the trick. The drug reduced the pressure and he really blossomed. Before, Ben was sleeping virtually all day long as he had no energy, but after taking the Viagra, he had lots more energy.” A spokeswoman for the hospital said: “We’re not aware of anyone in the UK being treated with Viagra at a younger age.”
So.........uhhhhhh.......how did it reduce the pressure in his heart? Did it displace the pressure to another part of his body?
Viagra is one of those serendipidity drugs. It was meant for something else then turned out to fix people with ED. Viagra is a drug that was originally researched into helping patients with hypertension and chest pains resulting from the heart recieving low levels of oxygen. Minus med school terms, it basically helps to increase bloodflow to the body. Pfizer decided to release it as an ED drug instead due to a lot of patients ending up with erections, heh. Kid had a hole is his heart. He needed more blood to flow there. Still..the article was a funny read.
