Good job by the parents for leaving a loaded gun in reach of a child. Hope he makes it.

Are some triggers that easy to squeeze on some guns?

:( Time to invest in a lock. :(

Hope the boy gets well soon and learns not to do that anymore, and hopefully the parents don't leave the gun around anymore.

They're made to be easy to squeeze. An unattended weapon should always be locked in a safe. I blame the parents, I'm guessing so do they.

that's exactly my question. I have a dirringer and it's really really hard to pull the trigger.

Lol, you hope the 2 year old learns not to act a 2 year old anymore?

To clarify, I meant the parents, not the authorities.

I know. I'm just highlighting how the police won't hold those idiots or at least the mother responsible.

Yes, sir. The term or age "2 years old" is just a measurement of how long he's been alive, not what he's gone through or his learning potential. I hope that people don't expect ALL people at the same age to know the same things everywhere.

What I mean to say is that there are lots of two-year-olds out there that can learn not to do things that harm them and actually stop themselves. Like you, I too blame the parents, but that doesn't mean that I can't hope the child learns from this to not be so curious about things that only adults should handle.

Wow. You're home with a two year old, and you're not watching him. And you have a loaded gun on a counter.

Reason number 348,219 I am in favor of mandatory birth control.

I see what you're saying, but expecting a 2 year old to see the connection is stretching it. As far as this particular child is concerned, he'll be lucky to just have a normal life.

Ignorant parents are raising ignorant children all around us.

^^ I agree totally. I don't ever lose hope on the child learning, though.

Yet ANOTHER example of stupid people being fertile.

Nothing will happen to the mother. They don't punish any of these dingbats that accidentally leave their kids in the back of their oven-temperature cars to die every summer (while remembering their cellphones!), so why should it be any different in this case?

Very sad, I dont know how the state could punish a mother even more who has a child in critical care. I would hope the parents/her own guilt would be enough. The only thing I could think of is to take away the right to own guns for X amount of time. Hope the kids recovers.

Guns aren't colorful and usually aren't that shiny. They're not made to attract the eyes of a 2 year old, especially one that can't reach/see it unless they climb a stool.
