the game is not yet finished.
Its only a preview to showcase the new additions.
    Nets will move, no worries.

this game will be better than nba espn basketball 2k5 hand down! they have the new "freestyle air" wherein you control what your player will do in mid air.. you can do an awesome dunk (they have 20,000 kinds of dunk in the game.. not including the dunks on the slam dunk contest), or if someone attempts to block your dunk, you can change it to a lay-up or a jump shot. they fixed their "physical play" you can see from nba live 2004. they made it more realistic. they changed their player models from cartoonish kind to a more realistic kind of style. they fixed the faces they made it look alot the real person.. they added shininess to attribute a player's sweat, they made the jerseys and shorts move for more realism.. they fixed their ai so again, for more realism. they added the "all star weekend" which has rookie-sophomore game, three point shootout where it includes every player's signature shot (like peja's uncomfortable looking shot), and the slam dunk contest which makes this games looks way better. this game will be so much better compared to espn nba basketball 2k5 hands down. i still have a lot to say about this game, but im too tired right now.. next time, i will give yall all the links for this game..

The videos don't impress me at all. Wait for ESPN 2K5 to show their videos. The dunk contest is going to get old. If i wanted a dunk contest, i'd go play NBA Street. Its a nice addition, but it's not going \to be the deciding factor for me to buy it. ESPN hopefully won't try to copy Live and just do their own thing. I want simulation, not arcadey cartoon faced action ala EA's Live

While I liked the 2004 live as it was actually a realistic simulation, thought the Franchise modes still bites (too many all stars remains FA after the offseason), but you got to admit, most live games after 2001 sucked hard. I've spent enough money on those games to warrant some hate my self.

I'm gonna rent and test the Franchise mode of 2005 before I buy.

no i'm not a live hater, i have both live and espn. I've always thought the gameplay was arcadey, even more so than last year's ESPN game. And last year's ESPN game sucked too.

THe tipins/putback feature is a good idea, but you hardly see those types of one handed putbacks from your palm. The graphics man, don't even get me started. Last year, they sucked, this year they made them cartoony.

We'll see at the end of September which one's better. I'm not sure which one i'll get yet.

are you on EA's payroll? i buy both live and the 2k series every year and every year 2k comes out with the better game. the gap between the games was closer last year but i'd be surprised if live is better than 2k this year.

according to previews the dunk-contest is supposed to be alot like tony hawk trick wise, if that's the case it's going to be alot sweeter than anyone could anticipate. definitely not just press a button and dunk ala nba street which someone mentioned. both games have their strengths but espn has gotten worse the past 2 years while live has at the minimum broken their string of horrible games. we'll see what happens this year though.

i was being sarcastic with the nba street remark haha, but still, that's not really what i want in an game. A freestyle dunk contest? I want realistic play, real team-based offense/defense, realistic animations. I want to see the Nets play and gun, Pistons play lock down D, Sonics shoot lights out from downtown, Spurs and Rockets run half court offense, Mavs play run and gun, etc you get my point. Definitely not off-the shotclock/scoreboard/top of the backboard 1080 reverse summersault tommahawk to indy grab dunk with your head in the rim.

What's this stuff about ESPN 2004 being so terrible? 2K-2K2 were way too preimeter-focused, 2K3 was way too slow and post-focused, and in 2K4 they just managed to find some kind of balance. It sucks horribly with the original sliders, yes, but if you work enough on the sliders it's easily their best game so far.

I think it's still a quality game, i like the 24/7 mode, but they took away the friggin face up shoulder button which i got really used to. i don't know for me it doesn't get better than the 2k2 for the dreamcast which was also ported to the x-box. maybe i didn't do the sliders enough like you said.

i want those things too but the slam dunk mode has nothing to do with the gameplay of a regular game. it's two completely different things. the only negative i could see from this is if they spend too much time with this little mini-game and not enough in improving the actual game. in that case i wouldn't buy it but i do like what i've read so far.
