1) i hope he doesnt get injured,but if he was to, who would back up yao then? think we are gonna deal some more? 2) think to welcome him,toyota center wil have a night where they have foam fingers for everyone to do the "finger wag" or a deke bobble finger night?
when Cato was out (either injury, foul trouble or JVG desicion) - the ROckets did fine with Mo T as a backup in a smaller line up it is not like we play Shaq every night - I am sure that Mo T and Howard can do fine against the "great" Steven Hunters of the world
If we sign anybody else at 5, it'll obviously have to be a scrub at the vet minimum. The Rox aren't going to spend money for a 3rd string center. So lets see, who could we get as a center for the minimum? Jason Collier? Two Sandwhiches? etc. etc. I imagine that MoT and JHow would be more productive than one of those scrubs...even if out of position. It looks to me like this team is set.
I wouldn't say we did fine without Cato because it actually hurt not having him. But, I think Mo Taylor filled the role as well as any other backup center we could realistically pick up. I think he might even be a better option than Deke -- though it is nice to have the luxury to choose.
like someone said earlier, we only play shaq twice.. mo-t, jh, padgett, and spoon.. will do just fine..
The Rockets aren't going to go out and spend money or trade players to acquire a quality THIRD backup at center. No one does that to acquire a THIRD-STRING ANYTHING.
whose gonna back up boki? or spoon? or padgett? the rockets need to get there priorites in line.. our season is over if we can find solid 3rd and 4th string back-ups... there goes the season...
I thought the NBA just expanded it's 25 man roster to 40. You mean to tell me we didn't call up an extra center from the farm system? I thought we had some pretty good prospects at Round Rock.
I disagree. Why Mark Cuban did just that: he went out and got a backup for Shawn Bradley (Eschmeyer) and then he signed a backup for his backup backup center (Diop) and now he has ANOTHER backup for that backup (Booth).
We bring Oakley back on 10 day contract. Just kidding. Really, our compilation of players at 4 should be able to fill in sufficiently if Mut goes down.
I thought we should have traded for Antoine Walker to be our point 4. We have Padgett to be our shooting 4 and Weatherspoon to be our small 4. Between Howard and Taylor, we don't really have much of a power 4 or a pivot 4. What were we talking about? j
