I didn't see this buried in any other threads, but Raheel of 1560 said that Yao is out tonight. Found out from McGrady.
Bring on Joe D. Yao's injury might be serious. Don't know if anybody else noticed, but Ive seen Yao wince in pain for at least the past 2-3 games.
I knew once I heard MRI it was bad. They do not do MRIs for fun, which is why TMAC little crying spell did not merit one. I am worried.
I seriously laughed out loud thinking of this. I'm not saying the man's soft, but I've never seen a basketball player more vividly express his pain than McGrady.
Check out the injury thread, a guy said "BRACE YOURSELF" followed by a prediction that Deke will be back next week. Uh oh. DD
but per Ron Ron Yao still may play, he said "yao is a warrior" link below http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/6121008.html
22 in a row part deux! If the report is accurate, that's really too bad. I hope it's not for too long a period of time. And I can forcast a bunch of threads/posts about how he shouldn't have rushed to play the Olympics...
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/6121008.html Who will face Mavs? Hard to say for Rockets Ron Artest says Yao is a 'warrior' and expects him to suit up By JONATHAN FEIGEN Copyright 2008 Houston Chronicle Nov. 19, 2008, 12:12PM Forward Tracy McGrady, who had been unsure if he could play, said he would play tonight against the Dallas Mavericks but said that Yao Ming would not. Yao, who had said he was "fine, so fine," did not attend a shoot-around session so he could go to a doctor’s appointment. Ron Artest, who sprained an ankle Monday in Oklahoma, said that not only would he play but that he had spoken to Yao and Yao might play, too. The Rockets called the availability of all three players "game-time decisions." If all that did not confuse things enough, McGrady initially called himself a game-time decision and then revealed he was just "playing" and would play. "Game time, more so leaning to playing," McGrady said. "Nah, I’m playing tonight. I got to play. The big fella is out, so I’ve got to play tonight. He’s out. They just said he was out tonight. "It changes the way we play. We have to be an up-tempo team. We have to do a better job of rebounding. We don’t have that post presence so we have to be more efficient." McGrady even said that Chuck Hayes would be starting at center. "He still might go," Artest said about Yao. "I spoke to him. He might go. He’s a warrior. I’m playing. I’m not at all (limited.) I’ll be ready to go. It’s just a little sprain. Everybody sprains ankles." If Yao cannot play, Artest said, "That changes a lot." McGrady, however, did say something with which no one could differ: The Rockets have grown accustomed to dealing with injuries. "When you’ve been there done that, you know how to get through it," McGrady said. "We’ve been there several times. We’re a team that knows how to overcome when one of our guys isn’t there. We’re thinking it’s part of the season, definitely not thinking, 'Uh, oh!’ not in the panic mode by any means. We’ll look forward to him being in the lineup on Friday."
We have McGrady and Artest telling us whats going on? Someone with credibility needs to speak up ASAP. Jesus...
With the way Ron Artest is talking, it sounds like it's just precautionary. I say give Yao the game off to rest the ankle.
Here's my bext guess....It's not a serious injury, Yao wants to play because his goal is to play 82 games, but management is holding him out because they're thinking long term....Probably best Yao sits for a few games.
Here we go again... **** this city. We are officially cursed. Injuries just happen so ironically. All 3 go down in the same game, Anyone who comes to Houston to play gets injured. Its only been 11 games and we are already dealing with a weak t-mac, who knows what happened to yao, hopefully not another stress fracture, and artest even got a sprained ankle, which wont hold him out, but still. Every year its the same bull****. Sick of it.
