Easy to cherry pick clutch plays / shots when he takes virtually every shot no matter how awful. Isn't he coming off the least efficient season of his career? I really hope this works out but don't have a great feeling about it right now.

WB is clutch sometimes sure but he also makes boneheaded plays.

Westbrook’s two massive balls are all we need...

Wasn’t the least efficient year of his career or even the 2nd least. Maybe the least efficient in 3-4 years, but he also had his highest assist total of his career and his best defensive year in 3-4 years.

Now, the question will be how quickly his skills evaporate as he gets older. Guys like Westbrook, who rely on athleticism, don’t age well. My guess is we get 2 good years out of him before he loses it. Is that enough to get us over the top? Maybe...if we get some front court depth.

Isn't it amazing how if you only look at random highlights, you can make a player look way better than they are?

Are you comparing Anthony Bennett to future HOF Russell Westbrook?

What is amazing is how deeply some of you guys are dug in. This isn’t Lance Stephenson we traded for. This guy is an absurdly gifted basketball player, with a rate of winning that destroys a guy like Anthony Davis that struggles to make the playoffs. When Westbrook is on the floor, the Thunder are WAY better, period.

It is highly likely that the Rockets will be way better with him on the floor too.

I'm not completely sold on AD's ability to lead a winning team either. But remember when the AD led Pelicans easily swept the Blazers? And then a year later, that basically identical Blazers team easily beat the Westbrook led Thunder?

It's a hard sell to talk about Westbrook's rate of winning when he has won a grand total of 4 playoff games in 3 years

He's been clutch, for sure, but he'll unclutch you out of games more often than he'll win them. I honestly think it's because he's tiring late in the game since he's been going balls-to-the-wall all game long. Maybe between him and James, they can both remain kinda-fresh at the end.

Much easier video to make than the "10 Hours of Russell Bricking Shot After Shot"

easy to pick but even James would have at most a 5 minute video and half of it would be the golden state game.

Yeah, ideally they will compliment each other, and be fresh for the playoffs

WB was super clutch in his MVP season.

80 points per 48 minutes in clutch time, with 44.6% FG%. The points per 48 minutes in clutch time number is the best in the history of NBA(at least 10 minutes of playing time in clutch time) when this official data is available by a very large margin. Typically the league leader of that number in a season is slightly over 50, Kobe, who is considered to be one of the most clutch players in the history of NBA, only passed 50 in this number 5 times in his 20 years of career, two of which are near the end of the career when his team was irrelevant and being clutch in a tanking team means nothing.

There is no official clutch number for MJ in his prime, according to some fans who tracked more than 100 full game replays of MJ in his prime, his points per 48 minutes in clutch time was around 75 at 50% FG%. So 16-17 WB was prime MJ level of clutch. Lebron's best number was 66.1 points per 48 minutes, which is the second best in the official database.
