This is awesome. Houston already has a really strong art/museum scene. This is a great thing for the city even if its temporary. I look forward to seeing these works. The masters are coming The Met in N.Y. will send 135 of its great artworks to Houston while museum renovates http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/ent/arts/art/4014184.html
Kind of silly to put a picture of a study for a famous painting instead of one of the real paintings that the Met owns and will send. This thing came together FAST. Of course it helps to have your ex-director as the current director of the MET. Yay, more Impressionism. The only art Houston loves.
Especially a painting that everybody who has ever seen Ferris Bueller's Day Off knows hangs in the Art Institute in Chicago.
I interned at the MFAH during the fall and really started to appreciate the art they had there. The Thornton Dial and Basquiat exhibitions they had while I was there were incredible. A year ago something like this wouldn't excite me in the least, but I will almost definitely go check it out. Don't forget the museum is free to the public on Thursdays and is open until 9pm!
Please tell me you didn't just praise the Dial show. Basquiat...I am not really a fan and that wasn't his best work. But Dial sucked and was a nightmare for the museum.
