12/10/03: Bullard on 610 10:00 AM Matt Bullard is on the Mark Vandermeer Show talking about the Rockets for those interested. Afew interesting point discussed so far: Rockets are overacheiving. They are not as playing as well as their 10-7 record. all 3 of the Rockets stars must play well together like the Lakers are doing Mo Taylor used to be a great scorer with the Clippers but the achillies injury has hampered his affectiveness Bull loves Pike because he is a shooter Said Jazz are overacheiving also without "John Flopton and the Failman" and he was really impressed with Raul Lopez aka "Harry Potter" more to follow...
You must be mistaken...Basketball discussion isn't allowed during football season on 610. That must be another station... I have to agree with Bullard on the first point. The Rockets are playing very poorly right now. They lucked out against Utah. They really haven't had a quality win all season long...
more: There is not enough basketball in this offense for Steve and Cat to remain happy Rudy made up this team five years ago and the personal does not fit JVG's system. Cat, Moochie, and Steve are wide open court players and JVG's offense does not fit their games. Yao is the building block of the Rockets. He is a top 5 center right now and has the potential to be the best center in the NBA. Likes it when Yao steps out and hits the 15 footer. Said it is hard for Yao to manuever low in the post because shorter strong players can push him because they have an advantage with leverage. Yao is strong but since he is so tall smaller players can push him around on his legs and hips. Francis has so many turnovers because he dribbles too much. He needs to bring the ball down the court and then pass immediately
Since when is Steve a wide open court player? He can't run the floor at all. He is more of a slowdown, iso type player. Steve would fit in a system where he could dribble all he wants and take shots early.
more: Jazz started all foreign players: Kirilenko - Russia, Lopez - Spain, Pavlovic - Yugoslavia, Harprring - worked out in Austria, Ostertag - Mars Played with both Steve and Baron Davis. Both players want to win the right way. Baron is more mature basketball-wise than Steve right now. Fans need to be patient with Yao. Remember that the Rockets didn't win their first NBA Championship until Hakeem's tenth season Hard to trade players now in the NBA with collective bargining and salary caps. Will be difficult for Rockets to make a trade. Steve has the ability to drive to the hoop and draw fouls or dish to open teammate. He should do this more than rely on long range shot. predicted Hornets and Lakers in finals
For the record, it's Marc, with a 'C' on the end. Sorry, but he's a friend of mine and it drives him nuts. Air Bullard rides again!
Matt Bullard would be so much better to watch instead of Cynthia Cooper...Although If I'm drinking she looks hotter faster than Lisa M. would.
Tell Marc that I can hear him laughing on the radio at the callers. And tell him that I don't care about Hurricane Football, or UMass Basketball. Tell him that He is a lot better than Russ Small.
Steve is an open court player in the sense that he cannot catch and shoot, he does not shoot off the pick well. He is best with spacing that allows him to slash/drive, iso, and make circus moves. He is good on the break, when it is a break away, or he is not the initiator. He is terrible at leading a fast break.
just a head's up: Matt Bullard is scheduled to appear each Thursday on the Marc Vandermeer show at 10:00 AM as a regular guest. Bullard has good insights and is worth listening to.
What do you mean by that, they've beaten teams with winning records and they've beaten some bad teams thoroughly, and yes they could play better, but they have quality wins.
the only team the Rockets have beaten with a winning record is the Denver Nuggets. I didn't even know that until I looked it up just now. Kinda depressing.
Actually, it is an excuse, not a point. Yes, it was freaking awesome that Hakeem won in year 10 and 11, but that doesn't mean we should expect the same or less of Yao. If Hakeem had won in year 2, would it be okay to expect Yao to be winning the championship this year? I will certainly be happy if Yao leads the ROckets to back to back champioships in years 10 and 11, but will be even happier if he does it every year for the rest of his career.
Hakeem and Co should have won in '86 Rocket River WE WERE ROBBED!!!!!1 SCREW YOU SCHISTING . . what ever you name is. . . little guy that got into a fight with Ralph
