Both are in good health, but will remain in the hospital under observation for a week. The baby weighed nearly 8 1/2 pounds. The family of the sixth-grader refused to stop the pregnancy and ``put everything in the hands of fate,'' Gryshchenko was quoted as saying.

No, it was some neighbor in his late 20's who has since fled fearing arrest. I'm surprised to hear that he only faces 3 years in prison if convicted.
The only acceptable explanation, I guess. I know I wasn't ready to be a parent at 11. I was too busy riding dirt bikes and water skiing. Hell I was barely ready at 31 when I had my first kid.
I feel sorry for her. I hope she has a good family that will help her take care of her kid, and can somehow manage to make something of her life by continuing school, and finding a good career. Because I don't have a single idea how an 11-year old can hold a job that would be enough for her and her childs survival. And for some reason I just have this sneaking suspicion that if she was having sex with a guy in his 20s (probably not the first time.), that her family isn't exactly involved in her life. While I don't expect parents to know everything going on in their kids life, I would expect them to atleast be aware enough to spot hints that their kids hiding something important from them, and has instilled a good foundation or morals to abide by when her parents aren't there and she's in a tough situation.
