In the midst of all the back and forth over negative distractions, I want to take a minute and give a nod to the Left For Dead Rockets opening up the year 11-8. Maybe that doesn't impress a lot of folks, but there was enough chatter about 30-some wins and unwatchable games that I feel we owe the team some praise. 11-8 puts us just outside of the top 10 for the entire league. For perspective, last year's much more loaded Big Three squad opened up 12-7, and in the Yao/TMac era we've opened up with: 8-11 7-12 13-6 10-9 So, props to this star-less group putting together one of the better starts to the season we've seen in recent history. In recognition, I'm sending $11 to the tip jar, and encourage others to do the same.
And this is after an absolutely brutal schedule. Once we make it through this month, it's smooth sailing from there.
A++ thread, finally we talk about something of significance. Instead of that one guy... We are the biggest surprise of the league imo.
I don't have time to look it up but I think many of our losses have been close games ... only got blown out once or twice?

losses to the Hawks, Lakers, and Suns were all last second, single possession games... we will learn to win those games...
Hey now, Brian Cook has been there. He hasn't scored points, maybe not a lot of rebounds but he was there.
I don't see us over acheiving as of now... we are beating the teams we need to beat right now and i am proud of how this team plays as far as the intensity and heart. This is the first year that when we lose games I'm not that ticked about it versus in years past because this team gives it there all.
I've been saying that the Rockets would go 47-35, and here they are on pace for 47 wins. To be honest, I thought they'd start slow and make up ground in the middle and latter parts of the season. 11-8 with the teams they've faced is remarkable. I love watching this team and can't wait to see what they do over the course of the season and in the playoffs. This is going to be a fun season. I believe!
we've won games that we should have won, and thats great. and also the fact that we havent played any of the eastern teams outside of the big 3, who i believe we can definitely beat.
There are people that have given up on the Rockets right when they heard Yao was out for the year... and are still under the assumption that they suck. At the very very least, this team can be a playoff team, and my realistic hopes for this team is that we can make it to the western finals again.
Fantastic thread, I enjoy watching this team play so much. They play hard and compete night in and night out, and there are some developing star players on the court. Brooks and Landry are taking it to the next level. Total enjoyment - great thread....and who voted 1 star for it, that is weak..... DD
