DD we don't pay you for nothing now... We demand you to get this done or your banning powers will be taken away!!
Darn I missed most of it but caught him talking about how he and Adelman encourages all the Rox to shoot 3's including Ariza as it is a HUGE part of there offense and he knows the guy that the movie 21 is based from.
Doh! Well crap. I was going to try to recap.. this is what happens when you wait until after doing some work to check clutchfans!! Hopefully the podcast will be up quickly.
i dont need a recap to realize this dunno if i want to listen in if he was the one conducting the interview
quick recap non DD style DM: was dissapointed in suns game and that we didn't execute game plan. especially defensively. that was why we saw him furiously texting during the interview with Brad Mills. We were in the midst of a breakdown and he was noting all the errors. thought last night was a no win situation as we were expected to win and losing would have been horrible. Scola has worked consistently on his left hand as teams are agressively going after his right hand Ariza shooting three's, as well as the whole team shooting three's, is very much desired in the offense Thinks Ariza is ahead of where they thought he would be Tracy is not happy with not playing, but we are staying the course and will perform an mri on his knee after monday's practice when it is his knee is "hot" he likes Brad Mills and thinks Astro's scored on that one Thinks we are better than the suns thinks we will have matchup problems with the hawks
After the idle chit-chat about womens golf . . . H: you didnt shoot well last night, but you got the job done. DM: we'll take the win. scola got a career high rebounding. mostly because we couldnt put the ball in the hoop but we got on the boards to keep us in the game. H: offensive rebounding is up this year - is that a focus? DM: wanted to improve on that this year - we might be 5th or 6th, but offensive rebounding and getting out in transition have been important focus areas for us. H: is that effort or personnel? DM: its mostly an effort thing but we do have guys that have strengths in that area so we've just turned them loose. also some of it is scheme, in terms of how many and which guys we send back on d early. H: lets talk about PHX - how did you see that game? the crunch time part? DM: that was the most disappointing game of the year. we had tons of breakdowns mentally, and our defense needs to be flawless and it just wasnt. we really beat ourselves. i feel like we're better than the suns and we need to beat them at home. H: that's a strong statement DM: yeah, we're a confident bunch. that's a team we match up very well against and we should beat them. we'll see how it plays out though. H: how about Atlanta? DM: it would be a huge victory to beat them at their place, they are playing better than anyone in the league. Our schedule is the hardest in the league. H: ATL has been getting better over the last few years. you saw it when they took boston to seven games, and what they did last year. DM: yeah we've faced the three suprise teams in the league early. phx is better than people thought, atl as well, and sac also. all those teams have been surprising everybody. H: Lets talk about Luis Scola. How much do you guys run through him? DM: we try to get him early post ups in transition. he's a good guy to go to when we're struggling. he struggles with double teams and our spacing is off so that doesnt help. teams overplay his right hand and he's been doing a lot of work on his left hand. he's gotta do that since he's the man now that yao is out. H: with brooks and lowry, its like having a football team with two QBs. brooks came out last night with all the turnovers, but you had kyle to count on to wrap things up. DM: just like QB in football it's the toughest spot. Aaron is in year 3, kyle in year 4, so its gonna be up and down. theyre giving us the production and its good to have a PG controversy bc that means they are both playing well. usually one of the two is on. H: i have to ask - tracy was in uniform, we know theres no timetable, but what can you tell us? DM: tracy wants to play, he doesnt like the timetable because he wants to play. with that injury we have to be the ones to hold him back. its not a negative, its a positive that he wants to be out there. H: on the hawks, theyve made a big jump. what did they do to get better? DM: defensively they have really improved. theyre really clicking. JJ is at a high level, Horford is reaching a new level, and theyve been injury free which is a big factor. more idle chatter here. Caller: rockets look great. dont know if they are a playoff team. love ariza, but why are you letting him take so many threes? DM: glad he brought that up. dont be mad at the players, be mad at rick and me. we want them to do that. we want to work it inside to carl and scola, but other than that we want transition threes and threes out of the flow of the offense. lots of positives with threes, not just the points, but also from an offensive rebounding perspective. H: ariza is leading you in scoring, is that expected? DM: i probably would have guessed Brooks or Scola or someone else might step up but clearly trevor has been better than anyone thought, including us. we thought the transition would take longer. we're a lot of fun to watch, been one of the top ten teams, so buy some tickets. H: scola at 30min per game, is that because he was hurt? DM: coach is going with the bigs that give us the most at any given time. coach is rotating the bigs, which is good for the long run, and going with whatever is working at the time. H: hayes is becoming one of the more adored athletes in houston DM: the charges he takes are better than blocks, with a charge its a turnover but with a block the other team could get the ball back. one of the positives with yesterday was with about 8 or 9 minutes left chuck and kyle and scola got that look that we're not going to let ourselves lose this game. Caller: question on tracy - we keep hearing that tracy is out of here, is that true? what are the doctors saying? DM: he's here, so thats an easy one. on the second one, our plan was to get him re-evaluated on monday and get him an MRI after a full practice when the knee is hot. Caller: how do cash considerations work in a transaction? DM: rules are straightforward. you can include up to 3 million. Caller: two things. everyone is talking about Bosh or whoever, but nobody is talking about al jefferson. also, any idea that in the stadium you could move people down into the lower bowl? DM: cant comment on other teams' players. the second one is more of a tad brown thing. H: seats are used, but people are just late right? DM: home crowds have been great, i know the guys appreciate it.
Morey thinks the rockets are better than the suns. That's interesting. After beating LA, Morey probably expects the rockets are the best team in the west.
