Well, I told myself I wouldn't write about my 100th post or say anything about myself, but I changed my mind. I think it might be a good idea for introduce myself, and to myself a challenge. I have been a Rockets fan since I moved to Houston in 1984 (I was born in Houston also, but moved six weeks later). I have been visiting ClucthCity since 1996 when it was on a school server, before it was clucthcity.com (I don't remember the old address). I ran a website on the Rockets myself before I found out about Clutchcity, and after a season and a half I realized it was pointless when Clutch was the #1 source for Rockets info. I did stats for a while after every game, when major sports sites took a day or two (sometimes more) to update their season stats. As far as the BBS goes I think I may of had a name multiple years ago, but I forgot what it was. I tried not to post too much, since I was already spending two hours a day just reading info about the Rockets. I was afraid once I started posting my time devoted to Rockets web time would double (it's more than doubled ). I'm not sure how much longer I'm going to stay out of lurk mode, but I've enjoyed posting so far. It's fun to interact with the people whose posts you've been reading for a long time and seeing what they think of what you post. My devotion to the Rockets is definitely a few notches past obsessed. I'm sure you guys may have some better stories, but I'll go ahead and share mine. When internet radio started broadcasting games, I listened to about 85% of the games while in college. My girlfriend would call and I'd hang up on her if the Rockets were on (I told her ahead of time that I would do this). Then when I'd go home to Houston, if I couldn't get tickets to the game I'd would watch it on TV, no matter what else was going on. I worked part time at Target for a while (between semesters at college), and I kept that job over other high paying jobs, cause I was in the electronics area, and all the TVs would be set to the Rockets game. Several girlfriends have made the mistake of making me choose between them and the Rockets game, and I have told them, "I'm sorry, but the Rockets are going to be there when you are gone, and they were there before you, so you can just wait until the game is over". Sure, I can't keep a steady g/f because of this, but hey, they eat away free time anyway. After college I got a job in Chicago and the first purchase I made was NBA League Pass. One of the Rockets preason games wasn't shown b/c they didn't have it set up correctly, and the next day I was at the office of the cable company demanding to be paid for the game. I was refunded 1/90th of the purchase price (Yeah, I know it wasn't much, but I wanted to make a point, and I wanted to see the rest of the preseason games). Fate then turned for the better (well, I don't know how losing a high paying job is a turn for the better), and I relocated to Houston and I was able to see the opening game last season in person. This season I fear my obsession may grow to an all time high as an active poster on the CC BBS, and I'm thinking about reviving my stat program, and adding more detail to it. Sorry to bore you if you didn't care about this, but I didn't want to do a cheap free post like, Yeah 100 posts! That is the other thing I wanted to write about. The challenge for myself and other posters. One of the reasons I decided to post was because I saw a lot of people just writing one line posts or "free post". I think this is a very high quality BBS and web site (I'd say the best NBA fan site hands down), and I'd like to see that be reflected in the members. My thoughts on posting is that it should be thought out to some degree, try not to directly attack anyone, try to be as positive as the situation allows for (yeah I know losing Mark Jackson sucks), and try to support fellow posters. I've seen a lot of improvement over the years (ZRB comes to mind) in this area, and I'm not sure how much of that is due to the banning of abusive posters, but I want to thank the admins for there hard work in keeping this BBS high quality. What I'd like to try to do is have a high post count like many other people on here, but do it in a way where almost every post is a quality post in and of itself (I am not too concerned about the short posts I will make in the fantasy league section). Anyway, it's late and I should end this post. I'm glad and proud to be part of such a great fan base here at Clutch City, and here's to a wonderful season for the Rockets, and great insights and opinions on the BBS. Thanks everyone! B
Zzzzzzzz....... Thanks B, I needed a good nap! Welcome, and keep up the good work. We need more new posters like yourself.
One line post! j/k B, you are a kickass member, and I'm glad you are posting more often. The quality of your posts is up there at the very top, and I hope you stick around and spend even MORE time on cc.net!
Good work. Don't worry about post count, rather make all your posts count for quality. Some of the better posters have been here awhile and only have 400 to 500 posts or less. for example, rokkit and one of the "Dr. dudes" comes to mind.
Like you, I am a long time Rockets fan (since I moved to Houston in '82) who mostly lurks. The difference is I found a girlfriend, taught her to like basketball (although she prefers the Comets to the Rockets), and married her. 13th anniversary yesterday, so I missed the second half of the Portland game (a little compromise is good). I enjoy your posts. Keep it up.
B, I have enjoyed your posts and look forward to competing against you in the Fantasy Basketball league that you started. Keep the informative posts coming.
I'm gonna save this post and read it if I ever have trouble sleeping. With B's post and DoD's autobiography, I'm set for the year.
Grammar cops suck! spelling cops, on the other hand..... Mmmm...Tori Spelling.....damn, what was I talking about?
Geez, I didn't expect to see anything about Tori Spelling in this thread! Thanks everyone for all the kind words. Behad, if that's the biggest error you could find with what I wrote, I am quite pleased. I usually just type my thoughts as quick as possible, and sometimes I look them over, but most of the time I just post it. If I see a huge mistake after posting I'll edit the thread. At least I know you read most of my post. B
Hey, from the shoulders down she's a goddess, but then you see her face and wonder how many trees she hit when running through the Ugly Forest.
