So it took me 4 years to get here, but I made it. Is that a record, I wonder? Has any of the other first 25 members not reached 1000? Too bad all the posts from CCs birth to 1999 weren't counted! Man those were the days. There were only a handful of us. That was back when I actually felt like I personaly knew everyone and we all posted like crazy. That was back when Anti-Sonic's name actually meant something! Anyone remember RocketFuel? Seems like 20 years ago! Props to Clutch for being able to hang in there and keep this thing afloat. How's the baby, Clutch? How old is he/she (sorry, I forgot)? Did you have any more? I have one on the way now. Imagine that. A little SpaceCity! We are due in August. Times have changed. The tech boom is long gone and I no longer have a job that I love! No longer can I sit and monitor CC all day without fear of being fired! How about all you vets chiming in and letting me know what's been up with you all. I missed the influx of new members when we drafted Yao. I understand that it was pretty huge. Just how many menbers are we up to now? Who are the guys that when they post, everyone reads? Used to be Popeye, Doc, and Will and few others. Does anyone post more than Heypartner these days or has he gotten a life yet? (j/k HeyP, you know I love ya.) Also, maybe you guys can fill me in on how things have changed here at CC. The last I really remember was the bet (I forget what the bet was) which resulted in a lot of posters have to change their names. Apparently that did not last! I can see that the anti-Rudy brigade is still in full force. Now Mobley seems to have an anti-fan club as well. Who are the 'cheerleaders' these days? I know I was a proud cheerleader but now my patience has run a little thin. The honeymoon is over and there are really no more excuses for the Rockets. But I still support Rudy and I definetly don't want to lose Cat. Ok, so there goes my 1000th post. I look forward to hearing from everyone.
Wow.....1000. That make me a bit embarassed. I wish I had a little less quantity and a bit more quality in my posts, but I'm still here.....pissing off everyone (or getting pissed off by everyone) it seems. Mobley can be a problem sometimes, but to read the messages posted here, you'd think he was an ax murderer. Sometimes I wish Clutch was a bit more neutral on the subject. To outsiders, he's probably just a fan with a website, but here, he's such an icon. The Mobley hating bandwagon seems to be a living, breathing cult. Clutch may not have started the cult, but he's certainly got to be a High Priest now for all the people who want to jump on board. Sometimes its amusing to watch the tirades after a loss......sometimes it isn't. I hardly ever post anything in the game action thread anymore, and I know there are others like that. I just look there in the hopes of finding some insider info.....although I'm sometimes surprised with a good read/analysis. I'm sure there would be more if I looked harder. If I do post there, it has no substance, so I have no one to blame beyond myself. I just never feel the inspiration anymore. But I still watch the games religously, and I'm always here it seems.
long time no see. <---- psst Elienator posted today - he's got 133, and he's member 25 I think. edit: I don't think. He was 89.
Great to see you again SpaceCity, you were my fav when i first arrived!!!! In case you missed it Smeg is visiting Houston from Australia in April for his honeymoon, join us at the game on the 12th, there will be plenty of vets there (send me an email through bbs for details)
Great to see you back, Space! Congrats on 1000 and the baby! I remember Rocket Fuel, particularly the awesome custom images you had up (submit some wallpaper allready!). Most of the old-timers are either Hangout posters or lurkers now (I probably posted more today in the Game Action forum than I did in the previous two years combined). Stick around longer this time!!!
wow, this answers the question of whether SpaceCity and keeley are still around... For some reason I stumbled onto this Rockets page in '96, not long after its inception, and never have been able to stay away for long. Mostly just lurked - others had lots more basketball wisdom than I had (remember when there wasn't even a hangout forum?) - but there used to be good stuff on the board, and in the Game Action section. (is it just me, or is it hard to find quality material in there these days? maybe if the mature posters, or especially the insiders, would come back) Remember when anyone who had just become a Rocket fan during the championship runs in the mid-90's was considered a "bandwagoner"? (guess Yao has brought in another bandwagon... but if you were around during the championship runs and have put up with everything since then, the label probably no longer applies) All the other nostalgia I can think of right now has to do with various incarnations of the site, certain colorful characters who used to post (or troll) here, nicknames for players, and other stuff that's well known to everyone...
What's up SpaceCity, man I've been relegated to lurking these days and at this pace I will be the slowest of the group to make 1000, but I still check in everyday, just like back in the day - but not a lot of posting. Speaking of nostagia, anybody remember Vega's spinoff site? I remember yours. The bad guys of the BBS were I believe elie17 and abovedarim. How about the trade rumor of the day: Rockets' getting Derek Harper from Dallas? Anyway good to see all you loyal followers come out of the woodwork. -Turbo
I've been around for quite a while as well, don't think I'll ever reach 1000 though. The BBS is so busy these days, I feel like I can't keep up!
Man, I forgot about abovedarim. I was mostly a lurker back in those days (webtv). I used to be in the chat room for every game. Antisonic would do the play by play, RoCkO and Keeley and rockHEAD would be in there. There were usually 5 or 6 regulars and some others would pop in for a little while.
note to self re: idea for Another Brothers thread: You know you are addicted to cc.net when posters with member numbers smaller than your age call you a loser in their 1000th post.

The last I really remember was the bet (I forget what the bet was) which resulted in a lot of posters have to change their names. Apparently that did not last!

The bet was would we go after a PF (FA like Webber or draft) or a SF (FA like Shareef or draft) with the Dream caproom windfall and 3 picks. Will got all confused by the change of names and pronounced amnesty for all the losers around August/Sept 2001. I stayed crispee for the duration of the penalty, while Hydra and Running Raven are still losers, Stupidmoniker and Raven Lunatic.
This thread is so sad. Its like all the vets are talking about old times, getting ready for one last hurrah... But those were the days...'sigh'
Scary thing is....I was actually around back then and remember(vaguely) most of the people and events that are being referred to....I lurked for ages, I dont think I really started posting as frequently as I do now until I discovered the Hangout.. Question to refresh my tired memory...does anyone remember exactly when the move from .com to .net was? was that a more recent event(2000 or 99?)..
I just noticed your member number was 1294. I was 47 people before you. We should start a February of 2000 club. We could have little parties and T-Shirts...whadaya think?
but doing a whois on clutchcity.com would be so much more entertaining. Frank: if you're reading this, could you update us all on your progress on the flux capacitor?
