I see these stickers on the backs of cars and trucks all the time. Is it for HPD donations? Do they really reduce the likelihood of you getting a ticket?
Once you have sex with over 100 people you get one of those stickers. I have a buddy who is HPD and they said they don't help out at all.
I've heard this, too. They can't officially claim that putting the sticker on your car will decrease your chances of getting a ticket. But the simple fact that they provide a sticker for your car strongly insinuates that it is in your best interests to advertise the fact that you've donated to the policeman's union. However, every policeman I've asked (about 3 or 4) has stated that it has absolutely no influence on their decision of whether or not to pull you over.
They can not ADMIT that it influences them, but one of my best friends is on the HPD force and he told me it makes a HUGE HUGE HUGE differnce. DD
I wouldn't expect the sticker to make a difference on whether or not they pull you over, but once you're pulled over on the side of a road, I'd expect it to make a difference as to whether or not you actually get a ticket. I'm too poor to make such a donation, so I'll just live without the possibilities.
Yeah, what else are they going to say? "I'm as crooked as the day is long. Cut a check to the union and you can commit any crime you want." Maybe it has an influence and maybe it doesn't, but they aren't going to tell you that it does. Plus, it might have an effect that they don't themselves recognize.
These police officers were friends who offered to have my ticket 'disappear' if I ever got pulled over (sadly - it always seems that I get pulled over by Constables and such - never HPD). So, I feel pretty confident that they were telling me the truth.
Simple, just ask yourself this: If you are a police oficer, are you less likely to give someone a ticket if they are helping your union. I know I would be less likely to give someone a ticket.
I've got a picture of Calvin peeing on one of them. Except instead of Ford it has a "100" Cops totally love it.
I've seen people layer these things, they have so many of them they look like rainbows on the back of their cars...most I've seen was 8...
I have a 100 Club, DPS, and a Sherrif/constable sticker on my back windshield. Before I got the stickers I had a record 8 tickets within the span of a week and a half.. that was within my first 6 months of driving. A week later I added the 3 stickers and havn't received a ticket (knock on wood) for the last 5 years. It could be that I'm a better driver now, but what the heck, maybe this will help persuade you guys to support our law enforcement. My experience with an officer when I had the stickers: Basically, what happened was that I rear ended a car. It was one of those you see the other lane moving, and you're not paying attention, so you kind of roll into the car in front of you; pretty much, the only damage was the rub off of my bumper paint on to her bumper. Anyways, I got out of the car and asked the lady if she was okay, etc. While I was talking to the lady about trading insurance and license numbers a police officer pulled up and asked what the problem was. At this point when the lady saw the officer she started rubbing her neck like it hurt even tho I hit her going about 1-3 miles an hour. At this point, I'm thinking I'll probably get a failure to control speed ticket or something to that effect.. but instead the officer says "Man, It's the middle of winter and you're wearing basketball shorts and no shoes, aren't you cold?". The officer then inspected the bumpers of our cars and said there was no damage except for the paint rub off and told us to handle the insurance claims. He also said that there was no way that the impact could have injured her.. It almost felt like he was on my side. Anyways, maybe I was just lucky.
I've never gotten a 100 Club sticker but I did recently score one of those "Support Law Enforcement" ribbon magnets. I'm going to slap it on for long trips and hope it helps keep me out of trouble.
