So 1) Yao Ming is going to be limited to 24 minutes a game, probably for at least a good chunk of the season. 2) Some of the same news articles that are reporting on the plan to limit Yao's minutes also report that vets like Scola and Battier may see limited time so that they can go into the playoffs fresh. 3) The Rockets are widely considered to have one of the deepest rosters in the league. Given all that I think the next obvious question is should the Rockets play some Hubie Brown basketball?
I think 8 1/2 is the best.....but the Rocks are way deeper than that..... They have to do something to shrink their team, I don't think you can keep 10 or 11 players who deserve playing time happy. DD
Its going to be tough to shrink this team without a trade. There's a lot of good talent. 1 - Brooks, Lowry 2 - Martin, Lee, Taylor 3 - Battier, Budinger 4 - Scola, Hayes, Patterson, Jeffries 5 - Yao, Miller, (Dampier?)
Brooks, Lowry Martin. Lee, Taylor Budinger, Paterson, Battier Scola, Hill, Jeferies Yao, Miller(Fres?)
Whoops. And Morey wants to add another center too. 5 PFs and 3 centers. Its hard to imagine that we start the season with 8 bigs on the roster, all of whom are capable of being rotation guys.
That looks like the right plan, at least until a trade. It worked pretty well for San Antonio in their championship years. And, this roster is tailor-made for a long rotation, with lots of talented and injury-prone players. I don't agree with keeping the wear on Scola down. He doesn't break down anyway.
