    According to AskMen.com:

    10 foods you should eat:

    1. Sweet potatoes. They're loaded with carotenoids, vitamin C, potassium, and fiber.

    2. 100% whole grain bread contains many more vitamins and minerals than its white counterpart.

    3. Broccoli comes packed with vitamin C, carotenoids and folic acid.

    4. Watermelon makes an excellent source of vitamin C and carotenoids.

    5. Beans win the inexpensive, low fat, high protein award. Plus they contain lots of iron, folic acid and fiber.

    6. Cantaloupe supplies all the daily requirements of vitamin A and C in just a quarter slice.

    7. Spinach and kale provide calcium, fiber, carotenoids, and vitamin C.

    8. Oranges contain vitamin C, plus abundant folic acid, potassium and fiber.

    9. Oatmeal provides soluble fiber that helps lower bad cholesterol while improving good cholesterol.

    10. 1% milk ranks as an excellent source of protein, with little or no artery-clogging fat or cholesterol

10 foods you should never eat:

    1. Quaker Oats 100 % Natural Oats and Honey Granola contain 3 teaspoons of sugar per half cup, and come laden with more artery-clogging fat than a McDonald's hamburger.

    2. Gwaltney Great Dogs Chicken Franks contain 10 or 11 grams of fat per frank. Most hotdog manufacturers now offer pork, beef, turkey, or soy franks with zero to 2.5 grams of fat per frank.

    3. Entemann's Rich Frosted Donut Variety Pack has as much saturated fat as 9 strips of bacon (10 grams).

    4. Nissin Cup Noodles with Shrimp contain pre-fried and pre-salted noodles, compounded by the practice of using artery-clogging palm oil. They add 6 times as much sodium to the noodles as potato chips contain.

    5. Frito-Lay's Wow Potato Chips are fried in olestra, a recently formulated fat substitute that some people cannot digest.

    6. Oscar Mayer Lunchables contain heavily processed meat, cheese and mostly white-flour crackers.

    7. Burger King's french fries have a salty coating that allow more fat to be absorbed.

    8. Campbell's red label soups come brimming with salt.

    9. Bugles are fried in highly saturated coconut oil. Baked Bugles are better.

    10. Contadina's Alfredo Sauce contains a large amount of butter

I eat 8/10 of the foods you allegedly should eat (no oatmeal or sweet potatoes for me) and 1/10 of the bad food (I guess I'll give up Wow Potato chips now!)... can't say I've heard of some of those though, maybe they're not sold in TX?

I don't eat 4, 6, and 10 on the "good" list - I have a bad reaction to any kind of melon and I don't do dairy.

I don't eat anything on the "bad" list.

Mickey D's fries taste hella lot better than BK's. I'm surprised those aren't in the top 10.

Spinach and Kale? I think I'd rather chew on the lawn.

2-6, 8 on the good side.

    Nothing on the bad side.

yeah i've always known its bad for me, but the fact that there are only 70 calories per serving (16 chips) is just so enticing! i probably eat about 1 serving a week (i put a few chips inside my sandwiches every now and then... just to make them more crunchy).

i've been meaning to stop after reading literature about the evils of olestra... plus my family tells me i'm dumb to continue eating it...

ok, i was reading through Mrs. JB's link and saw this quote:

    4. Olestra sometimes causes underwear staining associated with "anal leakage."

while I've never experienced this phenomenon, the fact that it is even a remote possibility will result in a cease and desist tactic, on my part, of the consumption of Wow potato chips from this moment on! thank goodness i only started eating them about 3 weeks ago!

edit: more from the same link
Although underwear staining and anal leakage do not endanger consumers' physical health, those phenomena could cause psychological problems, including feelings of embarrassment and insecurity. Children and teenagers, especially, are likely to be disturbed about having dirty underwear, fearing embarrassment in front of friends and family. Snacking should be a pleasure undiluted with problems like dirty underwear.

i think the bold part is going to be in my sig now!

if you have it at home right now, check your container to see if the sugar content matches what the article says... you got me curious now. i'm not an oatmeal fan, but i always thought it was supposed to be good for you.

Why are all the "good" things generic ("broccoli") and the "bad" things are super-specific ("Burger King fries")? What about Wendy's, McDonald's, and Jack in the Box fries? Are those OK?

Of course people are going to do more of the generic things than the super-specific ones. That's an odd list.

So its okay to eat wings from BW3s? :D

Serioulsy, does anyone know how many grams of fat buffalo wings tend to have? I've heard 7 grams of fat per wing, but that sound a little too high. A couple of years ago I used to eat about 20 wings without breaking a sweat, and that does not include a large bowl of ranch. That would be about 200 grams of fat in one meal. :(

What about a cut of tenderloin, filet mignon, etc. I've heard those are actually pretty low in fat. Steak is okay if you stay away from ribeyes, new york strip, and porterhouse I suppose?
