Quaker Oats 100 % Natural Oats and Honey Granola contain 3 teaspoons of sugar per half cup, and come laden with more artery-clogging fat than a McDonald's hamburger. 2. Gwaltney Great Dogs Chicken Franks contain 10 or 11 grams of fat per frank. Most hotdog manufacturers now offer pork, beef, turkey, or soy franks with zero to 2.5 grams of fat per frank. 3. Entemann's Rich Frosted Donut Variety Pack has as much saturated fat as 9 strips of bacon (10 grams). 4. Great post. I guess we now know why burger king's frys are so good. Where are the fried twinkees? I am a little suprised about wow chips. If you body doesn't disagree with wow chips why stop eating them?
I don't eat 4, 6, and 10 on the "good" list - I have a bad reaction to any kind of melon and I don't do dairy. I don't eat anything on the "bad" list.
Olestra is the devil. Check out this list of fun facts from the Center for Science in the Public Interest: http://www.cspinet.org/olestra/11cons.html
Spinach and Kale? I think I'd rather chew on the lawn. 2-6, 8 on the good side. Nothing on the bad side.
yeah i've always known its bad for me, but the fact that there are only 70 calories per serving (16 chips) is just so enticing! i probably eat about 1 serving a week (i put a few chips inside my sandwiches every now and then... just to make them more crunchy). i've been meaning to stop after reading literature about the evils of olestra... plus my family tells me i'm dumb to continue eating it...
ok, i was reading through Mrs. JB's link and saw this quote: 4. Olestra sometimes causes underwear staining associated with "anal leakage." while I've never experienced this phenomenon, the fact that it is even a remote possibility will result in a cease and desist tactic, on my part, of the consumption of Wow potato chips from this moment on! thank goodness i only started eating them about 3 weeks ago! edit: more from the same link Although underwear staining and anal leakage do not endanger consumers' physical health, those phenomena could cause psychological problems, including feelings of embarrassment and insecurity. Children and teenagers, especially, are likely to be disturbed about having dirty underwear, fearing embarrassment in front of friends and family. Snacking should be a pleasure undiluted with problems like dirty underwear. i think the bold part is going to be in my sig now!
I had no idea they were that bad for you. drapg, I you still want chips Baked lays are no too bad. I eat a small bag with my lunch several times a week. Just avoid the corn chips and doritos. They are like styrofoam.
i used to eat those for years, until i recently discovered the Wow chips... b/c they had about half the calories per serving, i couldn't resist. but no more!
Please tell me that: 1. Quaker Oats 100 % Natural Oats and Honey Granola is not the Oatmeal you get in that cylindrical container with the old guy smiling and the 'Old Fashioned' thing written on it, that you make in water or milk?!? This is the bar stuff, right? please please please --rockit
if you have it at home right now, check your container to see if the sugar content matches what the article says... you got me curious now. i'm not an oatmeal fan, but i always thought it was supposed to be good for you.
Why are all the "good" things generic ("broccoli") and the "bad" things are super-specific ("Burger King fries")? What about Wendy's, McDonald's, and Jack in the Box fries? Are those OK? Of course people are going to do more of the generic things than the super-specific ones. That's an odd list.
So its okay to eat wings from BW3s? Serioulsy, does anyone know how many grams of fat buffalo wings tend to have? I've heard 7 grams of fat per wing, but that sound a little too high. A couple of years ago I used to eat about 20 wings without breaking a sweat, and that does not include a large bowl of ranch. That would be about 200 grams of fat in one meal. What about a cut of tenderloin, filet mignon, etc. I've heard those are actually pretty low in fat. Steak is okay if you stay away from ribeyes, new york strip, and porterhouse I suppose?
