You take Brazilian ju jitsu? That would be something i think you might like But anyways, I train MMA and my stand up is particularly Muay Thai/Boxing, i was always taught and will keep my hands up, always. what I don't get is why do TKD guys always keep their hands down? making their head and easy target? I mean from that point the only think i need to to find range and timing not having to worry so much about blocks.

I have done a lot of BJJ and it is something I enjoy but I'm pretty broken down now so I stick to Judo. Its because TKD is so heavily kick focussed its hard to get high powerful kicks keeping your hands in front of your head.

TKD kicks arn't as powerful as Muay Thai, believe me, and I been taught to keep my hands up, and if i'm throwing a kick, it's one hand down for momentum and one hand up to guard the face, TKD is more about speed than power, I just don't get why they always keep their stupid hands down.
Also TKD and Karate focus on kicking on the top of the feet, which is faster and more accurate, but Muay Thai, you kick with the shins, which generate more power.
There's only like an 80 pound weight difference there. No biggie. TKD if used correctly is the most lethal form of martial arts. Most TKD blackbelts are disciplined from early on and don't really use it as a weapon though as it's meant for self defense.... Not actual fighting like Muay Thai.
