DM - Chuck Hayes can dunk the ball, not many can dunk it standing straight, gonna defend my man Hayes.

H: I Love Chuck, he does more with less, he is just a very smart bball player.

DM: I disagree, very few guys as strong and as laterally quick and his BBALL IQ is highest on team with Shane and Tmac, can't remember anyone that can legitimatly contain all 5 spots on D, not the quicker ones, but guys like Andre Miller, more unique as an athlete.....and he is our best outlet passer.

H: Lateral quickness, teams try to attack Yao with PnR or High screen and role can't do that against Chuck.

DM: Yes, we have to use our quickness, Yao was actually a very good defender, but now that Yao is out we don't have Chuck Hayes coming in...because now Hayes is starting, and who will step up behind him? Worried about our defense being weaker because of this...

H: Pops?

DM: Yeah we are really high on him, really tough competition for last spot, do think Pops will get minutes if Luis' injury takes longer, thinks he will get back but if not Pops will get in there. Why we brought Pops in, is shot blocking, transition dunks, rebounds well and defends, not a great defender but above average.

H: Temple, what does he need to get to league?

DM: Experience, can defend 3 positions, if he can get some offensuve experience at the PG spot he can really get a chance to make the NBA.

H: You guys ready for tonight?

DM: Big test tonight to see where our preperation is at, both teams playing regular rotations, gonna see where we are then tough road trip to start year going to Portland, they will probably bring out the parade to try to beat us...lol.., a challenge but we are up for it.

H: Rick did not like Toronto preseason game.

DM: Coach did not like preseason lay out but we are through it and it all worked out.

H: We loved Simmons and you scrapping, are you still boys?

DM: LOL - we shall we see haven't hugged it out yet....lol.

H: You used the bigger vocabulary word....quixodick (Sp?).....

DM: Yeah, that slowed him down a bit as he had to look it up. I killed him essentially because he wants to be the Minny GM...says it will be challenging...and he points out moves that don't make a lot of sense and I think he would do those moves too...lol.

H: Liked Ariza move but wanted you guys to get Iverson, a band aid inefficient player.

DM: He is hit or miss, Simmons loves Iverson, whatever, he wanted him to go to some team, not Memphis harder to get them on TV.

H: Thank goodness you are not listening to him...just listen to us.

DM: Yeah, I will just do whatever you guys want me to do.

H: Classic rock - see if he gets that.....

DM: The last one sounds familiar...is that journey?......

H: Your as cold as??????

DM: Ice? I didn't know that was the name of the song....Foreigner? Journey? Same group...lol........

So Morey is saying David Andersen slides behind Pops for backup C. eh..

 

Not necessarily, but he said it was a possibility.

I think the only stuff that DD missed was them talking about the trash talking going on between Daryl and Bill Simmons and mentioning Trevor and his role.

Which was basically the same thing as before. They don't want Trevor to push to be the number one scorer... they don't want anyone to do that because they don't know who can. Instead they are just trying to teach him to pick his shots because in LA he was basically yelled at for shooting and taking away shots from Kobe or the rest of the guys.

Morey also said that he players that might step up to be that number one scorer on any night would be Luis, Carl, Kyle or Aaron.

He said Pops is more likely to get minutes if Scola's injury keeps him out of games. Doesn't mean Pops is ahead of Andersen (who'll likely be an everyday player).

 

I started typing immediatly when I joined.

Apologies. Swear I checked to see if posted & saw nothing on this page. Then checked my post & realized I doubled.

 

I don't think Andersen is ready. But ideally, I think I'd prefer him to start against the Blazers. He can bring Oden away from the rim defensively. Also, Chuck could get in early foul trouble guarding Oden, and it would be nice to have him available for slowing down Aldridge.

 

Hayes, based upon Morey talking about who is going to come in and back him up on the defensive side of the ball.

My prediction is.... barring trade....Pops will supplant Andersen as backup center to Hayes within the first 20 games. Andersen will wind up getting scratch minutes behind Scola/Landry when they are in foul trouble. Barring trade, Adelman will discover that we need to maintain at least one of Hayes/Pops on the floor at all times.

 

LOL at Morey's comment about a parade...
