On RealGm.com, they reported the Clipps are offering Odom, Magette, and the #8 for the number 1. (Sorry but I dont really want to post the link.=-) ). They also said if we add glenn rice, we might get the 12.

Personally, I would love this deal. We could look at Borchardt with the 8, if NY doesn't take him. If we didn't look at Borchardt or he was gone, we could get Hilario at 8. With 12 we could get Amare or ????.Maybe we could package the 8, 12, KT, and MoT for someone like Sheed maybe. With the 15 we could get a Haislip. Ok, a little bit of dreamcasting:D but here it is:

    Sheed/Cato/Collier
    Eddie/Haislip/Sheed
    Odom/Magette/Langhi/TMO
    Mobes/Torres/Magette
    Francis/Mooch/Tierre

you may be moving too fast.

after the trade we will have:

    cato-eddie--collier
    moT-kt-Tmo
    odom-maggette
    cat-os
    wink-mooch-brown

then we will have three first rounders that include 2 lotto.

with only 2 roster spots remaining, we will have to package 2, or all of the picks for a player or higher pick.

    EWS,
Not meant as a slight towards you.

Add one player, ship out three, exchange some picks and you have the trade on the table. Subsequent trade...refer to Yoda quote. Exists, but not in stone. Just the wrong team.

Not under any circumstances will we deal with the Blazers (team chem./Pip issues).

Seek and yee shall find answers in the past.

The Clippers would be crazy to give us Corey and Lamar. But I hope they are dumb enough to do that because our bench is one of the worst in the league and if we can get Corey to produce off of it then we will be in great shape.

How does that deal work with the cap, though? We would have to send them equal value in trade. Odom and Maggette are worth the salaries of Kenny Thomas and Cuttino Mobley or Kenny Thomas and Kelvin Cato.

Even if you could get them to take Cato (which, despite Cato's not exactly stellar performances, leaves a big hole at center unless you think Collier deserves to start), how could we trade Rice just to get #12? Rice makes a bundle of $$$. We'd have to take back equal salary.

I'm the first one to say that these rumors just don't die so there HAS to be so elements of truth to them. I just feel the need to figure out the practical implications involved.

    Now, as for my opinion...

I would send Cato and Thomas plus the #1 to the Clips for #8, Odom and Maggette pretty damn fast. I would take Stoudamire (whose stock is rising) over Borchart at #8. IMO, that is a fun lineup to think about:

    Stoudamire/Griffin/Taylor/Collier
    Taylor/Griffin
    Odom/Maggette/Morris
    Mobley/Maggette/Torres
    Francis/Norris/Brown

The thing that makes this so attractive to me is that Odom not only gives you all-around play, scoring, defense, etc. but he gives you a guy who can handle the ball freeing up Francis and Mobley to do other things. It also gives us a legitimate swing man to back up at the 2 and 3 in Maggette. Finally, it unloads salary in Cato and makes room for a young, ridiculously talented center.

Personally, that is a deal I would look at LONG and hard. If I deal the #1, it has to be for something that still gives us a pick AND makes us more athletic.

Oh, and did I mention we still have #15? :)

    Jeff,
The Clips are under the cap. They can take on more salary that they give back as long as they remain under the cap or if it pushes them over the cap they must be within 15% plus $100k.

The deal works, but it is not the deal we are looking for...it is getting closer than ever.

I hope they let T-Mo go with the rest of our bum FA's because that dude is terrible. Good college player but sucks as a NBA player.

Personally, I think Moochie's contract is worse than Rice's because of the length.

    !!!-Why am I included here?

Jeff-interesting trade. I'd rather trade Moochie, KT, #15 for Odom, Maggette, 8, 12, and Jaric, though but maybe I just want Moochie off the Rockets? ;) I'd draft Nene at 8 (he is better equipped to play center, is just as good a specimen as Amare, and is apparently much further along), and Borchardt at 12 (and make him my starter...he's very NBA ready).

PS-Where did you hear Amare is rising fast? I'd be afraid of Amare...he already talks the talk, doesn't have a prototype frame, and is not a skilled basketball player.

Jeff is Corey worth more then the #12? What does Corey bring to the table? I am not totally familiar with how he has developed with the Clippers. I know he has a build like Otis Thorpe, but would he be worth more then #12?

It seems we could probably find some takers for the #8 & #12, to move up and get Butler (or?). I know we need size, but Butler would probably be a better swing man (2-3) then Corey. Maybe? We still have the #15 pick and we can pick up some size in FA.

That is actually a great pick up Nikestrad, but I have been reading that NY was really impress with him (at #7). I also read that he has the wing span (same as Ming) to be a future star center in the league. Comparisons to Hakeem will not hurt his status.

I'm not really big on moving Moochie, personally. I still think his role was overstated last year because of injury problems. Reined in, he fits well as a backup even if the contract is a little crazy.

What do you think of Tskilitisisikdisitkdisilsilitksli...whatever his name is? :) I'm not sold on Borchart and I don't think he'd be there at 12. NY is apparently really fawning over him.

I don't want to move #1 for Odom, but I think Mobley would have to be involved for #15 to work. I just can't see the Clips giving up Odom AND Maggette PLUS their picks for KT, Moochie and #15. That really doesn't make them better at all.

I do think that Cato and KT give them depth in the frontcourt (and insurance in case Kandi leaves) PLUS they can be out from under KT if they like at the end of next year. On top of that, the #1 is, well, the #1. It nets them Williams. If we get both picks, we could still conceivably move #8 and #15 or #12 for an even higher pick like last year - maybe Cleveland at #6.

There are a lot of possibilities there. For the #1, KT and Cato, I'd want both of their other picks plus Odom and Maggette though.

I agree with the Butler analysis. I'd love to have him but we'd have to get up probably to around #5 to get him.

Maggette is stacked, physically, and can leap through the roof, but he isn't big like Thorpe. He's not that tall either. He seems to me like a good back-up Mario Elie type without the shooting skills.

    ROCKET!!! -

I'm terrible at this cryptic stuff but here's what I'm picking up from you:

    TRADE 1

    Rockets send #1 + #15 + Rice + KT + Collier

    Clippers send #8 + #12 + Odom + (?Maggette/Jaric)

    TRADE 2

    Rockets send #8 + #12 + MoT + Tmo + Drew obligation

    Bulls send Curry

Both the Bulls & Clipps are under the cap, so no salary matching is needed.

    End result:

    5) Cato / Curry (Willis/MCE)
    4) Curry / EG
    3) Odom / EG / (Walt/MCE)
    2) Cat / OT (Maggette)
    1) SF / Moochie

I used Willis & Walt as the Rockets appear to need some bodies and both have Bird Rights (as does Langi). We still have a second rounder and maybe the #23 from Detroit.

I'm pro-Ming but this is getting real interesting. :)

oh, hehe Jeff-I forgot the most important part of my trade-we send the #1 to the Clips as well. Otherwise, it's highway robbery.

Anyhow- Borchardt may be slipping due to the unathletic white big man stereotype, as well as injuries. I wouldn't be shocked if he was at 12.

As for Tsika-based on what I've heard, and the couple clips I've seen, I like him a lot. However, I wouldn't take him if we had Odom-he's a SF (or if he's a PF, we have Griffin).
