Dear all, I have a HP laptop (or compaq cant diferentiate i think its compaq cuz it states it on the laptop screen). So today i had my laptop on my bedside table and i got mixed up with the chord walking by and it fell to the floor it was about a 3-3.5 foot fall flat on the screen!! I quickly picked it up thinking of the worse, but then turned it back on and the whole system works well but the screen is , what seems to be cracked! But not physicall just in the image, its actually on the lower left part of the screen so i can still manage to use the laptop. so my question is , is their any way to change just the laptop screen or should i buy a brand new laptop?? thanks for the help .... p.s. i work for HP but have no idea bout this answere , incredible!!
Replacing the screen is going to be way too expensive, especially for a HP. Your only shot is to maybe buy a cheap one on eBay. Honestly, HP/Compaqs are the cheapest laptops around and almost disposable. If it isn't usable, you might want to start shopping around for a new one. This time, go to Dell small business and buy a vostro. Or get a Asus Eee Pc. You can drop them to your heart's content and they will keep on ticking.
If you bought it with a CC, some card companies tack on an extra year or two on the warranty. Don't tell them you dropped it, but explain that it cracked.
My dad has a shop in Westpark, if you don't mind call him and ask. He'll do what he can. 713-532-7770 Micro Computer Care, Inc. http://www.yellowpages.com/info-LMS57160005/Micro-Computer-Care/maps?from=qpibp
I replaced the screen on an old viao. I just bought the screen off ebay and took the laptop apart myself. Shouldn't be too difficult. I think I paid 100 bucks for the screen.
Thanks guys i appreciate the help!!I have had this laptop for 2 years already it might be the time for a change. Again thanks for the help. P.S. ShutUrBig! , thanks for the number but right now im residing in EU. So i think the Shipping would be a Bi%&$
