After much consideration, I think Im going to go with the 06 Audi A4 once they have special apr financing . Does anyone have any experience with Audi's? I pick this vehicle because its some what classy, luxurious, 4 doors and in my targeted budget of $30k. I contemplated on another sports vehicle, S2000, STI, current and new IS300, MR2 Spyder, but it would be very stupid of me to own two sports vehicles after I already went through 3 of them. I like how Audi's aren't very popular and 99% chance I wont have to worry about thieves or people harrassing/messing with my vehicle. The 06 Audi A4 is redesigned and the motor has FSI. I dont know what FSI is, nor do I really care. Some other new and neat features but I dont really care for that either Here's a pic in case if you dont know how it looks. :
I had a TT thing was FAST, but I got alittle too much road noise durring driving.. Overall it was a good car, Congrats!!
I have an '03 A4 and have really enjoyed it so far. It's not a fast car, but it drives very smooth, and handles well. The looks are what sets this car apart from the competition, like the 325, S60, and 9-3.
How is the reliability? This is the most important factor for me. I dont want to spend 30k+ on a new vehicle thats not reliable.
Who was the independent movie guy here who owned an Audi and had one of the worst experiences with them? Where he couldn't even get a part because they wouldn't import it or something. I think it was for the AC? I know his ID, just can't think of it at the moment... Anywho, Audis aren't exactly known for the best of reliability - they're usually average at best... the 2004 JD Power Vehicle Dependability Study put it below average : http://www.jdpa.com/studies_jdpower/pressrelease.asp?StudyID=860&CatID=1
i think for a few years now the most reliable cars have been lexius, and acura. those two hardly ever have any problems.
A buddy of mine bought a new Audi and couldn't wait to get rid of it. It was nice, but spent more time in the shop than it did on the road. He sold it, got a toyota, and has been happy ever since. -- droxford
mrpaige? To the threadstarter: I would be careful with Audis. Like others have said their reliability is somewhat shaky.
I had the same concern when I first bought mine. Up until the late 90's Audi had horrible reliability, especially with their electrical systems. However, ever since they introduced the 2002 A4, it seems like they've really got their sh*t together. The only problems I've had are the following: 1. ESP button peeling - replaced in 30 minutes 2. Pirelli 17" tires start showing wear at 27K miles The car is priced right at $30K, which is about $4-5K less than a similarly equipped BMW or Volvo. Plus you don't have to worry about driving a car that everyone has. Here's a picture of mine that I took a couple of months ago after I washed it:
