    The Jon Barry Pre-Game Speech???

    Hey guys,
I was just wondering if this was caught on television?
I know it was on 610am and I was listening to it on the radio on the way into the game.
Barry thanked the fans for comming out. Asked them if they enjoyed watching the Astros run, and asked for their support in the Rockets this season.
He said he hoped everyone was more optimistic than their coach. Then he said the Rockets and our coach, "__________" (called JVG by some other name), would liek to thank you for coming out tonight?

Does anyone know what name he called JVG, and who that person is???

    Thanks!

i don't think he said he hoped everyone was MORE optimistic than the coach.

I thought he was being sarcastic and saying, "i hope everyone's as optmistic as our coach." which was hilarious, frankly. my friend and i were at the game crying laughing at Barry.

Yes, that is how he said it. The look on JVG's face when Barry finished his speech and was walking back to the huddle was priceless.

    That's what he said.

I read somewhere that when he came back to the pregame huddle, JVG told him it would cost him 5 minutes of playing time.

Max is right, he said, "I hope you are as optimistic and excited as our coach."

JVG told him the comment would "cost him 5 minutes of playing time."

    Classic.

    EDIT: Nevermind...

the back and forth between Barry and Van Gundy is just great! so funny!!!

i liked Barry's comments on the radio the other day about being disappointed when the starting lineups came out, because he was sure this was his season to be a starter. :D acting all disappointed about that.

Barry seems to have taken on the role of comic relief. He keeps everyone from getting too uptight. Kind of like Moochie a few years ago. Well, except that Barry can actually play.

Yeah, it's in the Chron. Barry said he would have broken his career scoring record if not for those missed 5 minutes. LOL.

No, no, no. He didn't say optimistic and excited. He said 'optimistic and enthusiastic' as our coach is about the upcoming season.
