My girlfriend called this long ago. Her reasoning was that his eyebrows were way too manicured for a straight guy.

Yea I knew it from the jump. Dude don't gotta straight bone in his body
No disrespect, but just curious. Why exactly are we happy for ppl announcing their sexual preferences? Some of the most powerful ppl in the world are gay. Why are we happy for ppl who announce they are gay? Why do ppl even announce it?

Because there are parts of the world where gays and lesbians who get the crap beaten out of them sometimes by complete strangers just by virtue of their sexuality. And that's only a small part of it.

So rather than being hidden or under the radar, the people who do come out are deliberately putting a target on their backs in hopes of raising awareness for other similar people. It's also for the majority who are straight to wrap their minds around a subject they likely have no exposure or empathy to unless they know someone who is/are openly gay.

It's not because they feel unloved and they want you to personally make them happier.

    And to a lesser extent:

I think straight people take for granted the freedom of publicly sharing experiences with their partners. Simple things like going to events, going on vacation, getting a personal accolade, family reunions and you can't share that experience with the one you love because you feel the relationship wasn't appropriate in the eyes of strangers would suck IMO. So, good for him.

Remember some of the discussions in D&D in years past, when members like you and I would say, without reservation, that it wouldn't be all that long before things really changed for those who happened to be Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender? That the bigotry they've suffered for so long would be difficult to believe in the future, with those bigots of today being seen as sad, pathetic creatures, relics of a perplexing past? That's what I thought, at any rate, and change is coming even faster than I had hoped. It's wonderful. There's still a long way to go, but real strides are being made.

I thought this was common knowledge. He is good at his job, and if discussing his sexual orientation is liberating for him then so be it.

I wouldn't go that far. There are still a large number of people that do like LGBT. More people keep it to themselves because the media narrative no longer allows for bigotry, but don't be fooled into thinking that things have magically changed over the last 6-7 years when it comes to what lies deep in someone's heart.

He may not be gay, but I don't doubt he would do some nasty things to curry.

Yeah I noticed that too. I always thought he was obviously gay and I'm kinda surprised some thought it'd be Pablo Torre.

Hard to believe people are asking "why come out."

Imagine if you, a guy, are dating some girl, but you have to keep it a secret. Nobody can know you are dating a girl b/c society isn't cool with that. So you go around hiding for years, spending tons of energy and effort to make sure nobody knows you're dating a girl. You skip vacations with her, and you don't introduce her to your parents. You even go out of your way to make sure nobody knows she exists.

Then, one day you decide: **** this. This is crazy and stupid, and I'm sick of living some demented lie.

I don't know for sure... but I think that's kind of like coming out, bros. It's a move saying **** the haters b/c life it too short and I want to spend time with whoever I want to spend time with. And if I hold his/her hand in public, deal with it.

    This.

...we are still a deeply racist country all these years later - we just changed the legislated part of our racism. Gay stigma will take several generations still to erase from our culture and until that day, Gays will still be discriminated against.
