Rubios contract isn't horrible. It;s a little more than the mle in two years.

In the 2016-and-beyond market it's not horrible, but this thread mostly exists because basketballholic has a thing for the dude. And yet he wasn't even the one who reopened this can of worms.

Great defense and passing, but for a team that likes scorers, he just isn't a fit.

    I don't know. I think it depends.

For one I think bevs defensive impact is overrated. 2, bev is not some offensive savant. He's a hustle guy who is decent at a few things and not real good at anything.

I think if you had at least one of Rubio, harden, or Lawson on the floor at all times you are almost guaranteed an offense that functions at a high level at all times with this team. You'd never not have a playmaker on the court and offensive initiator and most times you'd have two.

But for chemistry sake there's no way I'd make that move. Not this season. Bev is not a complete scrub. He's an nba rotation player and if he can get back to wolverine status by playing less minutes, that would be even better.

For our team, we want guards who can shoot and finish. Rubio is incredibly poor at BOTH of those things. I think that, barring injuries, PBev will actually bounce back. I honestly feel he was trying to do way too many things to test his limit this past season before he got hurt.

In 4 seasons Rubio showed 0 progress in all parts of his game. He averaged same numbers all over the board in all 4 seasons. His team was borderline worst in the NBA all his career. Do not want.
To be fair, he's doing same things he was doing 7 years ago as a kid. Wasted talent.

Agree. And Bballholic's criticism of TJones and fellating of Rubio is one of the funniest things on this site.

I understand what the rockets ideally want.

What people fail to realize is that we also covet talent. For instance, we'd ideally like a four that can knock down the three consistently, defend and rebound. Problem is, not many fours fit that description. Jones is not a great shooter, but he does other things well so that he doesn't have to be the "ideal" player there but he's still very effective when he has it going. Same with DMO. Bev has his shortcomings as well, however when he has it going he can help the team.

I simply listed the ways in which Rubio could help this team. The question is, does he do enough things well consistently to 1) be a fit with the team in some capacity 2) be a net positive

If we had the ideal pg, could shoot, defend, had size and ateticism, finish, great in transition, create for himself and others on a game to game basis....that guy would be a superstar or close to it.

Ultimately I think it's moot because I don't think we'd try to get rubio at this point. And I personally wouldn't want to trade the pieces it'd take to get him.

But I do think Rubio would provide value to this team if he were on it.

He's almost worst than 'Lin' at this point. Some flashy passes but can't really shoot worth a damn....

Rubio isn't a bad PG especially when it comes to playmaking, but man if he could just find a way to stay on the court he would be much more valuable than he is now.

Ty Lawson is a borderline all star so I prefer him if I had to choose.
